We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial person for the West Elm's Brand Finance division. This position would be responsible for providing financial, analytical, and strategic decision support for short and long-term planning. Majority of focus will be applied to performing financial analysis and developing actionable insights to drive results for the brand. This individual will also collaborate across the West Elm Brand by developing and running ad hoc financial and operational analysis of major growth initiatives for the organization, often directly supporting the brand leadership team. This position reports into the VP, Brand Finance & Strategy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Create, manage, and continually enhance business decision support tools and analytics to drive meaningful outcomes for the business
* Collaborate with key partners across the organization, including Merchandising, Inventory, Digital, and Stores to identify and analyze ad hoc business issues, developing insights and recommendations to influence performance
* Assist in the creation and distribution of daily, weekly, and monthly sales/ expense/profit performance analysis, allowing business partners to action on key business driving indicators
* Support new business development by performing market research and analysis, creating business cases, and managing financial performance metrics
* Develop and clearly communicate insightful financial analysis to evaluate and identify business issues, risks and profitability opportunities
* Manage brand marketing expenses and collaborate with Brand Marketing / CRM teams to perform marketing analysis such as marketing spend analysis, investment ROI, and client file analytics.
* Support broader brand finance team by developing brand-level tools and analysis during monthly forecast, annual budget and long range planning processes
* Develop analyses and presentations for President and senior brand leaders (i.e. brand initiatives, Board of Director presentations, etc.)
* Work with various Corporate and Brand leaders to examine current financial and operational processes to identify areas of opportunity

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
* 3-5 years of experience in corporate finance, banking or similar technical analytical role
* Bachelor's degree required, with preference in finance, economics, or another business-related field
* Very strong analytical skills -- extensive experience with Excel and building financial models from scratch with limited oversight
* Creative problem solving and strategic thinking skills -- able to delve into business issues and large amounts of data to form insights and recommendations.
* Relentless attention to detail and ability to consistently deliver high quality work.
* Comfortable managing multiple projects with a high degree of ambiguity in a fast-paced setting.
* Results oriented -- strong sense of urgency and excellent follow through.
* Solid interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with non-financial partners and present a cohesive story to senior leaders
* Strong understanding and application of financial analysis concepts as well as a solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
* Investment banking and/or retail industry experience preferred
