Position Title: R&D Test Lab Technician
Location: South Deerfield, MA
Job Summary:
The Test Lab Technician will set up and perform manual, automated and environmental performance testing on the full line of Newell Home Fragrance product lines based on applicable standards while following strict timelines. Performance of these tests must be precise, with the monitoring of test controls, effective documentation, and communication of the results both verbally and with formal test reports. Individual will collect dimensional measurements on mechanical and electronic measurement equipment and document technical test procedures and protocols for laboratory testing. Other responsibilities include the ability to oversee and maintain the condition, maintenance, orderliness and calibration of the laboratory and its equipment.
Responsibilities:
• Design, setup and perform manual, automated and environmental testing based on applicable standards
• Design and generate detailed, accurate reports that will be used to make key business decisions on a range of Newell Rubbermaid product lines
• Demonstrate excellent written, verbal and creative problem solving skills
• Communication of test results, generation of formal test reports, and review of other employees’ test reports
• Ability to lead in a team environment
• Willing to learn new technologies, equipment and procedures through on-the-job training
• Support design, construction and calibration of new and existing test fixtures and equipment

Qualifications:
• Associate Degree in Engineering or related technical field
• 3-5 years product testing or related experience
• Demonstrated ability to operate electronic and mechanical equipment and tools
• Proficient with MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent organizational skills and data recording consistency
• Familiarity with the use of data acquisition and data logging software/equipment
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings to assist in measurement
Preferred Qualifications:
• Consumer products industry experience
• Experience working with international testing standards
• Experience with statistical analysis
