Field Engineer
TowerPros seeks a highly competent and technically advanced Field Engineer/Tower Climber to build and maintain a sophisticated high performance network infrastructure.

As a member of the wireless network team, you will be backed by a 24x7 Network Operations Center while you are actively supporting from the field, testing and troubleshooting a wide range of technical, IP-based equipment on tower & rooftop based sites.

What it takes to join our team:
- At least 3+ years’ experience in telecommunications rigging and engineering
- Comfortable working at heights on a range of telecommunications structures including poles, towers, masts and rooftops to install antennas, feeders and ancillary equipment. Erection and fixing of steel structures to facilitate the installation of telecommunications equipment
- Working with cranes, cherry pickers and Elevated Work Platforms (EWP’s) as required carrying out works on site
- Aptitude in IP networking which includes IP addressing and basic routing
- Termination and Testing of telecommunications cables of various types and sizes including, coaxial and Fiber, correct cable pulling techniques, racking, grounding systems, static precautions, non-ionizing transmission safety
- Experience with identifying all major types of video, RF, Fiber and power connectors
- Strong understanding around AC and DC power systems and conversions including: voltage and wiring of single and poly-phase alternating current cables, direct current, and negative grounded direct current
- Tower Certification: (Authorized Climber/Rescuer) according to ANSI/OSHA recommended standards as a minimum (otherwise training may be provided)
- Must be a proficient sweep tester and able to troubleshoot and demonstrate the ability to use the following
- multi-meter
- Field Fox/ Anritsu
- Spectrum Analyzer
- Bit Error Tester/ Ethernet Tester 1Gb/ 10Gb
- Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)
- Must be experienced in all aspects of line and antenna system installation, replacement and maintenance i.e. coax, jumpers, ODU / TMA’s, connectors, weatherproofing, etc
- Clean driving record and be able to pass a drug test and background check
- Open to travel
- 75% of time spent in Pennsylvania / New Jersey
- 25% of time throughout the Mid-Atlantic
- Potential for minimal travel to the UK
- Strong analytic and creative problem solving abilities required
- Highly organized and can maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and equipment in their assigned truck
- Desire to learn and be a team player, have strong integrity and the drive and commitment to be the best you can be in your field of work
- Reliable and predictable attendance
- Physical requirements:
- Ability to climb up to 1000 feet, but most heights are between 150 to 400
- Rigging – Ability to attach ropes, slings, and pulleys to tower and lift loads up to 1500lbs with hoists/winches
- Mounting equipment - Ability to mount dishes, radios and other tower equipment while suspended in a climbing harness
- Loading and uploading rigging trailers and trucks - Ability to lift up to 75lbs into rigging trailer or pick-up trucks
- Able to move large spools of cable
