We are looking for a Senior Manager of Business Development and Partnerships who will work across regional and functional teams at Expedia, one of the largest online travel companies in the world. You will originate, evaluate and negotiate new channel and partner engagements across a diverse portfolio of partners including financial institutions, loyalty & rewards, affiliates, and other online and mobile ecosystems for Japan.

What you'll doMarket analysis, lead generation and prioritization

  • Perform industry and competitive analysis to highlight underlying category trends and competitive dynamics.
  • Identify, evaluate and manage new strategic business opportunities, partnerships and alliances.
  • Understand customer needs and identifying unmet (or emerging) needs across the travel category.
  • Forecast demand and estimate impact for proposed projects and business opportunities, based on presented market research data and industry trends.
  • Communicate strategic priorities and findings to senior management.

Partnership development and management

  • Create a pipeline of opportunities that are managed & reviewed monthly/quarterly to ensure the pipeline is productive and yields partnerships.
  • Lead in all aspects of deal development - prospecting, sourcing, negotiating and closing.
  • Develop and nurture new and existing partner relationships.

Implementation and execution

  • Work with the Product team and various other teams to scope, design and deliver new partnership functionality or improvements to existing integrations.
  • Work across departments and job functions to stay in sync with the company’s short-term and long-term priorities.
  • Direct and optimize spend toward efficient traffic sources.
  • Track relationship effectiveness.

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, MBA is a plus.
  • 6-9 years' experience in marketing, product management or business development experience, preferably with 2 years' experience in a partner marketing or business development function.
  • Fluency in Japanese as well as English is required.
  • E-commerce or travel industry experience strongly preferred but not required
  • Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively use them influence stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Strong data analytical skill and good understanding of and interest in technology and finance.
  • Ability to think strategically, to operate independently and to define objectives and structure, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to sell Expedia's value proposition to potential partners.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and ability to work well both as an individual and within team environment.
  • Strong account management and multi-tasking ability.
  • Superior communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • A professional ‘get it done’ attitude and work ethic.
  • A personal passion for travel is a strong plus.
