As a Software Developer in Test (SDET), you will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment where you will successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You will be required to work closely with the software engineering team to understand customer requirements, and design and create test cases that thoroughly tests each section of code. You will also document each test case to create an accurate inventory and use approved automation software applications to automate each test case.

You will keep a keen eye on the customer commitments and ensure the development team provides you with code fixes in a timely manner, so that we meet our Service Level Agreements. You will be responsive to the global technical support team when they request your assistance. You will also remain focused on ensuring that all new enhancements released to the field function in accordance to the documented specification.

As part of Rocket Software’s engineering team, you will be responsible for adhering to corporate policies regarding R&D processes, standards and automation, as well as identifying areas for improvement, while collaborating effectively with other Rocketeers across geographies and technologies.

Job Duties and responsibilities:

• Design tests using good object-oriented programming practices and Design Patterns
• Validate multiple software products using systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products
• Develop, modify, and execute complete test plans based on design specifications.
• Observe and record defects in software products using systematic tests to apply and maintain quality standards for company products
• Work closely with development teams to improve product quality and development methodologies related to quality engineering
• Do coverage analysis and proactively adjust testing to improve test coverage
• Uses product knowledge and insight to design and execute exploratory testing
• Apply knowledge and application of best practices in achievement of QA goals
• Communicate within a team environment, consulting with development engineers in resolution of complex problems.
• Ensure quality integration into all aspects of software development, data acquisition, and processing.

• 2 years of experience working on software quality environments or processes in a Windows or Linux/UNIX environment.
• Experience with test automation frameworks including UI testing frameworks
• Demonstrated competence in automation using scripting or other languages
• Strong Experience in advanced JavaScript programming & debugging
• The ability to read and understand/interpret product code and logs
• Ability to build test environments for functional, system and stress testing.
• Experience with problem tracking systems and test case management systems
• Experience with the Agile development methodologies
• Git experience
• Ability to multitask and prioritize to meet strict deadlines, and coordinate and participate in multiple assignments
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to deal professionally and collaboratively with all levels of the organization and across geographies

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Selenium/Appium programming
• Quality certifications like ASQ a plus
• Jenkins experience
• Experience testing both system and application software
• Knowledge of relational or non-relational database systems
• Attention to detail

Education Requirements:

• College degree in Computer Science/Information Technology
• 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of related experience and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 1 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
