Software Engineering Internship - Summer 2020

Join Zocdoc as a 2020 Summer Software Engineering Intern! You’ll have the chance to be a valued member of a talented team of world class engineers, product managers and designers. You’ll work in the deep end of an ever-improving tech stack, solve exciting engineering challenges, and ship code that’s used by millions of patients!

What you’ll do:

• Kick off your internship at ZocU, a week long engineering class where you will be introduced to commonly used technologies and Zocdoc’s internal tooling
• Learn software engineering best practices like how to write clean, readable code, push code on a daily basis in a CI environment, and ensure code reliability using industry standard testing frameworks
• Become fluent in the nitty gritties of our tech stack from languages like Scala, C# and NodeJS to modern libraries like React and cloud computing services like AWS
• Be an integral member of a small, agile squad, solving exciting problems everyday as you collaborate closely with our team of brilliant engineers and product managers
• Build a product or feature that has real-world impact and is directly suited to your interests (think optimizing the workflow for iOS/Android mobile experiences or driving our micro service architecture forward in scala)
• Present your summer project to our entire technology and leadership team at the end of your internship

What’s required:

• A sound understanding of computer science fundamentals like data structures and algorithms, and the ability to implement these concepts in everyday engineering
• Experience writing clean code in an object oriented or functional programming language of your choice (it’s true, we don’t care which you use!)
• An eagerness to immerse yourself in Zocdoc tech, problem solve on a daily basis and be challenged to grow everyday
• You are a smart communicator and can effectively discuss even the smallest nuance of your code with your scrum team
• An infectious commitment to engineering and an enthusiasm about working on a product that is revolutionizing healthcare
