The Role: The Senior Systems Architect will report to the Sr. Manager – Systems Engineering. This career opportunity is best suited to the person that thrives on new challenges and has extensive experience in designing and architecting new systems by integrating hardware technology into working solutions for customers.

Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate with several aspects of the organization (Engineering, Marketing, and Project Management) to drive definition of clear, concise design requirements.
  • Leverage diverse skill sets in network application software and analytics, radio frequency engineering, data concentrators and smart endpoints.
  • Work with local and international teams and apply specific experience to building smart grid communications solutions for gas, water and electric customers.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on projects all the way from proof of concept and technical feasibility to product launch.
  • Provide cross-functional technical leadership across engineering teams, including mechanical, hardware, firmware, and software.
  • Arbitrate cross-functional implementation decisions across engineering, solution owners, and product marketing.
  • Work closely with the solution project manager and the solution owner to ensure the successful delivery of the solution.
  • Answer technical questions from various stakeholders, including training, documentation, operations, supply chain, etc.
  • Review engineering documentation for compliance to requirements such as product specifications, firmware functional specifications, and hardware featurettes.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the company to ensure successful product release.
  • Serve as technical liaison to third-party manufacturers, vendors, and standards bodies as necessary.
  • Active participation in defining and evolving processes in business development.
  • May include international travels.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Masters preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in communications or infrastructural architecture development of communications solutions for utilities
  • Experience in:
    • performing network or wireless infrastructure assessments
    • architecting conceptual, specified and detailed infrastructure models
    • using modeling techniques
  • Ideal candidates will bring the ability to see network designs from conception to completion, and a desire to be part of something new.
  • With communication (DLMS-COSEM, Wireless MBus, NBIoT), IP, smart energy/smart grid protocols and security protocols and algorithms preferred.
  • Real time, high availability systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with utility technology and use cases preferred.
