Job Description

The Gogo Business Aviation Aircraft Applications Engineer-Amsterdam is responsible for providing quality and efficient Aircraft Engineering support to our Customers, Dealers, and OEMs for products and services that are either in pre-production or in early production. You will work in tandem with the Regional and OEM Sales Managers in support of new business pursuits, while solving unique aeronautical problems. Additionally, you will provide the primary Engineering interface for the customer operations organization for production/sustaining products and services. Finally, you will represent the “Voice of the Customer” during the Engineering Development Projects.

How will you make a difference?

  • Provide the interface between the Engineering and Business Aviation Support Teams
  • Be the “Voice of the Customer” to Engineering and the “Voice of Gogo Business Aviation Development” to Customers (OEMs, Dealers and Installers)
  • Provide technical advice to OEMs, Dealers and Installers for Gogo Business Aviation’s products and services that are not yet FAA/EASA-approved (certified) or in early production
  • Support Product Development Team during all phases of the product lifecycle by attending cross-functional team meetings, design reviews, operational status meetings, etc., and by providing avionics and aircraft expertise to increase customer acceptance of Gogo Business Aviation’s products and services
  • Effectively track, manage and support multiple projects and priorities
  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes and new requirements; interpret those that may affect certification and installation of Gogo Business Aviation’s products
  • Understand and interpret pertinent standards relevant to certification and installation of our products, including RTCA DO-160, aviation maintenance practices, and CFR title 47
  • Assist with technical documentation such as user’s manuals, installation manuals and other technical support materials by generating technical content, reviewing and editing manuals, tech notes, diagrams, sales collateral, and other documents as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronic, electrical engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aviation industry
  • Avionics experience is required
  • Candidate must be located in Amsterdam near major airport (Schipol)
  • Candidate will be required to travel 40% of the time in the first year to customer locations within Europe, Middle East and Asia
    • Initial 4 week training in Broomfield, CO, USA is required

Required Skills, Talents & Experience

  • Experience integrating and testing avionics , telecommunications, and RF devices , ideally on aircraft previously
  • Strong knowledge in avionics regulations and certification schemes
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and/or electrical and mechanical drawings and sketches
  • Troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, fix or mitigate LRU failures
  • Basic understanding of Radio Frequencies including power, frequency, propagation, decibel scale, and intermodulation
  • Able to predict (with tools), model, survey, and troubleshoot WiFi on-aircraft
  • Understanding of current generation broadband SATCOM systems
  • Demonstrated experience in writing technical reports with great proficiency
  • Advanced level skills using Microsoft Office computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision—self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple inquiries and priorities while maintaining a pleasant demeanor with the customer
  • Complicated problem solving and broad thinking skills
  • Strong technical writing skills needed
  • Ability to read, write and understand English proficiently

General Requirements

  • Must be able to carry 30 pounds of equipment through airports and hangars
  • Ability to climb up ladders and steps to access aircraft
  • Requires ability to visually read small screens of test equipment

Preferred Skills, Talents & Experience

  • Proficiency in other international languages a plus
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks is preferred
  • Understanding of standard IP networking techniques & protocols; ability to execute commands in Linux a plus
