UX Research Intern

AT&T Mobility & Entertainment Group: Experience Design Studio

As a UX Research Intern with the AT&T’s Mobility & Entertainment Group Technology & Video Operations team, you’ll work with cutting edge technology to bring the latest content and entertainment to customers in their homes or on the go. As a UX Research Intern, you will spend 12 weeks in El Segundo, CA as part of the Experience Design team responsible for the current and next generation design of the multi-screen DIRECTV entertainment experience. You’ll work closely with UX Designers, User Researchers, UI Designers and Engineers. And, you’ll be assigned a design problem with an end goal to define, design and implement features for DIRECTV’s entertainment experience. We’ll even assign you a mentor to help guide you through your time with AT&T.

Our goal is to help you gain valuable real-world experience and give you the ability to create portfolio-worthy work that could possibly be used by millions of customers!

UX Researcher

As a researcher on the Technology & Video Operations team, you will gather insights for strategic projects that leverage primary and secondary research methods. These qualitative and quantitative insights are used to inspire and drive designs that improve end user experiences. This role will work on research plans, data collection and analysis, journey map creation, and user testing for key products and services. Research ranges from field ethnography/diary studies to multifactorial experiments to controlled lab simulations of possible futures. Data intensive tasks will range from analysis of existing operational data (statistical and ML) to the collection of new types of data as our research reveals the need.

Key Info:

  • Degree Requirement: pursuing a degree in information architecture, interaction design, UX or a related field
  • UX Skills (required): Experimental methodology, Prototyping, usability testing, task analysis, ethnography, diary studies, InVision, survey design
  • Data Skills (desirable): Statistics, python, data science, machine learning
  • Behavioral Skills: Collaborative, communication skills, detail oriented, organized, story teller
