About the Job
Akamai’s Media Engineering team is looking for a smart, self-motivated, highly productive Senior DevOps Software Engineer to design and implement software for Akamai's massively scalable and distributed platform for video streaming. You will be joining an industry leading organization and team that is delivering massive amounts of video at scale and is unmatched by any other in the industry.
As a Senior DevOps Software Engineer you will:
* Build and maintain operations software which automates the configuration, provisioning, deployment and monitoring of our core systems
* Work with fellow DevOps Engineers to build and maintain our production infrastructure to ensure ongoing reliability while maximizing development team efficiency
* Build and Maintain operations of streaming networks and delivery products (AMD, MSL, Cloud Wrapper).
* Develop automation frameworks for public cloud infrastructure deployments
* Troubleshoot and debug infrastructure, network, and operating system issues
* Maintenance, management, and streamlining of all of our servers, external processes, and hosted services
* Knowledge of Media streaming technologies protocols, container formats and encoding
* Participate in architecture planning sessions with development team
* Develop tools for automation, monitoring and system reporting
* Make sure the infrastructure is running optimally and is scalable.
About the Team
The Media Division is responsible for developing the Akamai HD Network solution. Due to unmatched scale and video streaming quality of the Akamai HD Network, almost all large-scale broadcasters and film distributors use this platform to reach millions of end users throughout the world. The group is directly responsible for developing software which streams almost all of the biggest online events including World Cup Soccer, Olympics, March Madness, Super Bowl, and other major sporting and entertainment events.

Required Education and Experience
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience requirements
* 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree or
* 3 years of relevant experience and a Masters degree
Required Skills
* Minimum 5 years of experience in large-scale cloud-based Infrastructure, AWS preferred
* Minimum 2 years of experience with Python or Bash
* Minimum 2 years of experience OOPS Design Methodologies, Algorithms and Data Structures
* Minimum 2 years experience with TCP/IP, HTTP, and network programming
* Minimum 2 years working in a Unix/Linux based server environment
Desired Skills
* Ability to work on complex codebases to provide bug fixes are a must
* Strong trouble-shooting skills that spans networks, systems, software stacks, and applications.
* Design and implement solutions for monitoring, scaling, performance improvement, and configuration management of systems running SaaS application on AWS infrastructure
* Working knowledge of build automation and CI/CD pipelines
* Well versed in DNS, Load Balancing, SSL, TCP/IP, networking and security
* AWS architecture, developer, or devops certifications a plus
* Knowledge of application deployment and data migration on AWS
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Individual who is self-motivated, results driven, has ability to work independently, and is passionate about technology.
