About Our Site

Our Canberra Office is located in the leafy suburb of Deakin, approximately 4km’s from the Canberra CBD and approximately 12 km’s from the Airport. With approximately 180 employees, our Deakin site is primarily home to our Secure Communications and Information Systems business. The office is located in the Equinox Business Park which provides a mix of retail accommodation including a cafe, bakery and gym. Free onsite and underground parking is also available to employees.

The Opportunity

The Joint Cross Domain eXchange (JCDX) is a mission critical Command and Control system to produce Situational Awareness and Intelligence products for (HQJOC), deployed forces and Government agencies.
As the System Administrator you’ll provide support to maintain the JCDX and adjunct systems.

What you’ll do

  • Plan and execute tasks between team members enabling completion. Monitor and report on progress of the allocated tasks
  • Support systems, software, hardware and interfaces
  • Identify, investigate and resolve incidents and problems with system software, hardware and interfaces, and take remedial action where necessary
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of configuration documentation
  • Tailor and customise system software, system hardware and interfaces to meet user requirements
  • Monitor and optimize performance of systems
  • Provide advice on and assist with configuration and connection of existing and new systems, applications and data feeds into and out of system
  • Assist with the change and release management of patches, updates and upgrades for the systems and related applications
  • Provide on call support on a rotating roster (work location is on-site co-located with client)
  • Lead and/or participate in regular departmental and project meetings and technical reviews (both internal and external)
  • Mentor and coach team members, providing technical guidance.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in one of the following disciplines (or equivalent industry experience) - Computer Science; System Engineering or Information Technology
  • System administration or technical support experience with UNIX, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Solaris and/or HP/UX
  • Experience with networking including a functional understanding of TCP/IP and firewalling.
  • Previous exposure to Juniper firewall design and management.

Special Requirements

  • You must be able to obtain and maintain TSPV level Australian Government Security Clearance
  • Eligible to obtain authorisation to work with ITAR controlled equipment and technology
  • Periodical interstate and international travel will be required
  • You will need to successfully clear a pre-employment and police check.
