Role:

Manage the infrastructure and processes necessary for the effective management, control and protection of the software assets within Thomson Reuters throughout all stages of their lifecycle

1. Responsibilities of software asset management are to ensure the correct management of software assets (including software licenses) from software request, through procurement, deployment, recycling and finally retirement. 2. Lead software related processes and policies; ensure all users are using the software within the product use rights and maintains compliancy 3. Maximize negotiation leverage, contain licensing cost, & manage compliance risk of material publishers within the Thomson Reuters

Key deliverables:

  • Well established Software Asset Management program with ability to control, track and redeploy the software in Thomson Reuters.
  • Manage software license compliance and bring TR to be Audit Ready
  • Software asset information are effectively leveraged across functions to maximize the value and minimize the cost
  • SAM Managed Service Provider delivered SLAs through regular KPI measurement
  • Drive forward-looking direction of SAM to align with strategic IT initiatives in support of current business drivers (acquisition integration, cloud expansion, alignment with ITSM, etc.)

Accountabilities:

  • Be the leadership representative for Software Asset Management
  • Provides overall strategy and goals for TR SAM program
  • Set up and deploy Software asset related process and policies
  • Along with SAM managed service provider, provide SAM education and communication for end users
  • Support the deals with license agreements
  • Oversees alignment of SAM to business and IT requirements
  • Managed SAM operating budget
  • Monitors software compliancy performance
  • Lead software audit demand, identify the improvement and solution implementation
  • Overall responsibility of the management of SAM tool

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience as a software auditor, preferably at a large software publisher OR as a SAM consultant servicing multiple large organizations as part of a professional SAM consultancy.
  • Deep technical licensing expertise with at least one large software publisher (i.e., Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, SAP, VMware etc.).
  • Able to effectively research & apply complex licensing terms, technical license consumption metrics, & proofs of entitlement, including for unfamiliar software
  • Strong in supplier management and familiar with software contracting process
  • Willingness to “constructively dissent” and challenge senior management thinking
