The Senior Manager Content will be an integral part of the Disney Streaming Services team in ANZ. This position will be responsible for implementing programming plans, and articulating and implementing content merchandising and curation plans for Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand. The role is vital in ensuring ANZ subscribers are engaged via a calendar of editorial initiatives that support content discovery and time spent viewing, critical to supporting broader business KPIs of subscriber retention and customer lifetime value.
The role will also work in partnership with other lines of business including Studios, Franchise, Live Entertainment, Parks and Consumer Products to align Disney+ editorial plans with cross company priorities to both draft off and support company-wide big beats.
Responsibilities :
Planning
  • Utilise a deep knowledge of Disney’s brands and content, business data and consumer insights to tell compelling stories through merchandising and curation
  • Plan collaboratively with colleagues locally and internationally to align plans and amplify reach and engagement across all our customer touchpoints
  • Work closely with Insights, Brand and Performance Marketing teams to fully leverage all priority programming and content merchandising moments
  • Ensure the curatorial experience across Disney+ Australia and New Zealand celebrates local stories, talent and culture
  • Champion an approach to programming and content merchandising which continually seeks to test, learn and optimise
  • Provide editorial expertise on customer needs, content discoverability and ongoing product development
Provide support to the Content Director, Disney+ ANZ to: 
  • Manage and track a holistic view of Disney+ local and international programming plans
  • Ensure local planning strategies align with overall global planning strategy
  • Partner with global stakeholders to assess library content for inclusion on Disney+ based on set criteria. Manage the review process for content inclusion
  • Closely monitor and track content delivery, ensuring all content for Disney+ Australia and New Zealand is received and classified within set timeframes to ensure timely availability on service
  • As required, from time to time, classify content to Australian classification standards, undertaking classification training as required
  • Prepare plans and/or high-level presentations for senior executives
  • Act as project manager for ad hoc requests and deliverables as they arise
  • Represent Disney+ Content Planning & Scheduling in meetings with a professional and enthusiastic attitude, handling any challenges with a solution-oriented mindset
Programming
  • Support the Content Director, Disney+ ANZ in developing and executing content programming
  • Drive audience editorial merchandising and promotion strategies
  • Create high-impact, curated programming events that leverage TWDC brands and franchises
  • Collaborate on global, regional, and territorial editorial merchandising and promotion
  • Partner with TWDC marketing and global programming teams to ensure all priorities are coordinated appropriately
  • Partner with franchise and IP teams to support priority content campaigns
  • Partner with programming content optimization on testing needs, and testing implementation as needed
  • Partner with programming data and insights to act on findings
  • Oversight of content programming for original and catalog movie, series, and short form content
  • Leverage market and behavior data, audience research to drive data and analytics that determine effective programming strategies
  • Identify audience programming gaps and audience segment opportunities

Basic Qualifications :
Experience
  • Leader with extensive experience in slate planning, content strategy, content curation, and project management, ideally in digital media and entertainment, with SVOD experience preferred
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Diplomatic mind-set and proven ability to work well in a team environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Team management skills and experience; a leader who has developed a process for project prioritization and who has experience effectively communicating with other managers and/or team members about deliverables
  • Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, Google Docs, and other relevant software tools. Ability to quickly and proactively learn or adapt to new tools as needed
  • Analytical mind-set, ability to apply data and insights to strategy to drive results
  • Passion and insight into The Walt Disney Company segments, brands and franchises, the elements that define them, and expertise to build further audience engagement
  • Strong emotional intelligence and collaborative spirit
  • Proactive mind-set that allows for self-sufficiency when it comes to finding solutions or learning new skills

Content Planning

Programming
  • Deep understanding of TWDC content library, brands, franchises, and characters
  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms, including hands-on management of web, app, streaming, and connected devices

Required Education :
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum.
