Sr. UX Product Designer San Francisco, CAAs a Senior Product Designer, you will be responsible for leading a variety of design projects related to the learning tool, Chegg Prep (http://www.chegg.com/flashcards). At Chegg, our Sr. Product Designers take on our largest, most complex projects. You’ll collaborate closely with UX researchers, product managers, data scientists, content strategists, and engineers to define the experience millions of students have with our writing products.
In addition to excellent design skills, you should have experience partnering with product managers and business leaders to influence complex design projects. You should have knowledge of a variety of UX processes and techniques and be willing to experiment with others. You should have an infectious passion for UX, and have skills and experience leading other designers. For this role we’re also looking for someone with experience in game design or with designing playful interfaces.
The Team: Chegg UXChegg's outstanding UX team consists of product designers, content strategists and UX researchers. At Chegg, design plays a critical part in how we build products. We define user experiences, influence product roadmaps, and inform product vision. Unlike other companies, at Chegg, the UX Team owns the final decisions for UX Design and is responsible for promoting UX led initiatives. Responsibilities

  • Set high standards for usability, delight, and meeting student and business needs in our design process and our products.
  • Participate in the product definition process with Product Managers, Engineering Manager, and User Research. Drive clarification of the user tasks and objectives.
  • Coordinate with User Research and Content Strategy to inform and improve design work.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of competitive and complementary products and bring new ideas to the team.
  • Have a good understanding of current design patterns and guidelines for both mobile and web and be able to create a coherent cross-device experience.
  • Ensure design work is consistent with Chegg style and brand guidelines.

Job Qualifications

  • 7+ years as a User Experience Designer, creating excellent experiences that delight the customer.
  • High degree of creativity and problem-solving.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with partners and influence the larger team.
  • Ability to think and design holistically to create a cohesive and coherent product experience.
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental design principles.
  • Excellent interaction/product design skills.
  • Excellent conceptual, visual and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in UX Design tools such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks) or similar tools to create user interfaces.
  • Experience with mobile web design and responsive design.
  • Relentless attention to detail and to consistency.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Design, or related field.
  • Experience designing consumer-facing products.
  • Experience in the education field.
  • Experience designing games or playful interfaces.
  • Experience creating interactive prototypes using HTML/CSS, InVision, or other prototyping tools.
