UI/UX Designer-Transportation Business

Job Purpose:

Responsible for usability analysis and design specification of Human Factors principles in Software Applications for railways (HMI (Human Machine Interfaces) & TMS (Traffic Management Systems))

Job summary:

  • Contribute with Human Factors expertise to every phase of a project, including Bid, Specification, Development, Integration, Verification and Validation
  • Specify & support development of safety critical software according to the CENELEC 50128 standard and Thales internal development process

Professional competencies

Background:

  • Relevant technical studies (e.g. Informatics, Mathematics, Electronics or similar)

At least 3-5 years of experience in UI/UX Design, Usability or Ergonomics, especially with practical experience in some of the following:

Bid Phase

  • Understand end-user expectations of delivered solution
  • Derive explicit requirements out of User expectations and put in offer
  • Assess impact on functional and technical design of current solution

Orient phase

  • Early Human Factor analysis
  • User requirements document

Specification

  • Operator handbook and ergonomic principles
  • Task analysis (Normal mode, Degraded mode)
  • Operator Workload Study (Overload, Eventless long periods)
  • Static prototyping
  • Workplace design

Development

  • Dynamic prototyping
  • Close collaboration with SW developers & Testers

Integration and verification

  • Usability Protocol
  • Usability Test Report
  • User manuals

Personal competencies

  • Very good communication skills
  • Supportive attitude
  • Intercultural communication, including the empathy to work in an international team
  • Team-working (agile experience would be advantageous)
  • Solution oriented while being open to embrace new technologies
  • Flexibility and availability to travel abroad from time to time

Languages:

  • English
  • German is a plus
