Raytheon IIS is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer I to join as a member of the Field Services Group for IIS. Successful candidate will provide operational support for a distributed Air Force real-time ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance,
and Reconnaissance) data collection system. This is a senior-level Systems Engineer position that requires an array of technical and leadership competencies including the ability to perform and supervise product implementation, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations.
The position is based at Osan AFB, Korea. This is a Mission Essential (ME) position and the individual selected must be qualified to support U-2 operations under a variety of conditions and impending or active hostilities. In addition, the position supports a USAF worldwide deployable program so the individual selected must be able and ready to deploy anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice. An active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Primary duties are to provide operational and maintenance support of the IMINT and SIGINT system which includes pre-mission, mission, and post-mission support and systems analysis to AF operators and other contractors.As required, conduct installation of hardware/software along with associated verification testing.Identify and develop solutions to problems discovered through installation and checkout, mission/post mission support troubleshooting, or system analysis.Determine failure root cause, initiate corrective action, propose solutions or coordinate with customer and plant engineers to resolve issues.Candidate must possess the ability to perform moderate to advanced system administration tasks.
·Work directly with the following activities:
oMonitor, analyze and characterize the performance of complex data processing systems.
o Isolate faults – Trace faults and distinguish between hardware and software fault sources.
o Recommend and initiate actions to correct faults.
o Integrate and test new hardware and updated software.
o Conduct database builds and support installation
o Determine computer user needs
·Work with a diverse team of users, analysts, Raytheon and other contractor personnel, and customers
Required Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
·Expertise typically gained through four (4) or more years of hardware/software experience including ground station support, UNIX, and system administration experience, and Solaris 10 operating system.
·Demonstrated ability in handling the Job Responsibilities described above.
·Highly effective oral and written communication abilities.
·Strong teamwork skills – The ability to interact productively with end users, analysts, other Raytheon personnel, and customers in a diverse team setting.
·Proven leadership skills
Desired Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Required education: BS/BA Engineering, Science or Mathematics, or a minimum of 12 years’ experience or a combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for the degree.
Security Clearance Requirements: Active Top Secret/SCI required.
Special Work Circumstances:
·Working rotating shifts may be required.
·Frequent travel and long working hours are possible.
·Must be able to lift 40 pounds and able to sit for long periods of time.
·Must be willing and able to get all inoculations, including the Anthrax Vaccine and the Smallpox Vaccine, required by the US military.
·Must be willing and able to deploy to environments that may include harsh living conditions (extreme heat and cold, deployed living conditions, etc).
