PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

When processing personal data as part of its business operations, SAP must comply with the requirements of the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable data protection and privacy laws in the countries where SAP operates.

To support the local SAP entities in meeting their data protection and privacy compliance obligations, SAP has established a global network of Data Protection and Privacy Coordinators (DPPC’s). This network consists of local DPPC’s that report to the management of the SAP entities by which they are hired and regional DPPC’s that are part of SAP’s global Data Protection & Privacy team reporting to SAP’s Group Data Protection Officer.

We are looking for a regional DPPC for the SAP region APJ which includes the countries [Asia Pacific, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, Korea, East Asia].

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

The regional DPPC is the main driver for data protection compliance on a regional level. He/she coordinates and supports the work of the local DPPC’s and acts as regional representatives of SAP’s Group Data Protection Officer.

The regional DPPC’s main tasks are to:

  • Assist the local CFO’s for their assigned region in meeting their responsibility for GDPR topics, local data protection topics and dedicated processes of the legal entity,
  • Raise awareness of data protection compliance on management level
  • Maintain the regional network of local DPPC’s
  • Act as a 1st level contact for all local DPPC’s in the region.
  • Analyze changes in local laws and provide gap analysis and support local implementation projects
  • Represent SAP’s Group Data Protection Officer (DPO) within the assigned region based on the instructions given by the DPP team
  • Help strengthen the global data protection community within SAP
  • Support DPPC and DPO in a case of
  • supervisory authority requests with the assigned region
  • data breaches,
  • escalations triggered by a data subject or
  • any other control requests
  • Support local DPPC’s in identifying all process owners within legal entity/entities in their region that may operate local data protection relevant procedures and processing activities
  • Support the creation of local data protection policies or standards in your assigned region
  • Advise local DPPC’s in completing their Data Protection Action Plan
  • Monitor that local processes within the assigned region are enrolled in the records of processing activities and provide regular report to DPP
  • Harmonize documentation, processes, and overall data protection approach for your assigned region in close alignment with DPP
  • Provide education and training to ensure profound knowledge required to help SAP comply with applicable data protection laws within the assigned region
  • Support the local DPPC’s on data subject rights requests within the assigned region
  • Support the local DPPC’s in the assigned region for data protection compliance audits on a local level
  • Provide a yearly report on data protection compliance of your assigned region

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required skills

  • University degree in law
  • Good knowledge of data protection laws and best practices and/or strong desire to learn data protection laws for assigned region
  • Good knowledge of regional processes and/or teams at SAP (5 years working experience or more)
  • Good project management skills
  • Fluency in English and the main language in the assigned region
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong communication skill even on C-level
  • Assertive and convincing personality, high level of commitment and flexibility
  • Good team-working skills
  • Ability to lead a virtual team without formal authority
  • Ability to work in an international environment.
