Job summary

The Red Hat OpenShift Product Management team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to work on our Kubernetes container platform. In this role, you will be responsible for specific Red Hat OpenShift subsystems and work with our Engineering and product teams responsible for building and delivering them to market. You’ll also be involved in the planning and carrying out of the releases and new launches of our offerings, prioritizing and communicating product requirements in order to guide development, support the field team in advanced sales opportunities, perform competitive reviews and analysis, and work with partners. As a Principal Product Manager, you will actively contribute to the overall company strategy and work closely with engineering, marketing, support, sales, and field teams to ensure the success of our offerings. We'll need you to engage with open source communities that support our container initiatives, including Kubernetes, the Open Container Initiative (OCI), OpenShift Origin, CoreOS, Fedora, CentOS, and more. You’ll need to have great communication and teamwork skills. This is a great opportunity to work on a fast-growing offering alongside some of the brightest minds in open source. Primary job responsibilities

• Collect and document input from Red Hat OpenShift users, customers, community members, and other stakeholders to understand customer needs; develop strategy and roadmap for our offerings
• Research competitive solutions, both commercial and do-it-yourself alternatives, documenting their relative strengths and weakness to develop competitive positioning and collect input for new releases
• Prioritize and document requirements, epics, and user stories for new releases of our offerings
• Guide major enhancements of our offerings by working cross-functionally with core teams across our Engineering team and the upstream open source community
• Work with the OpenShift Engineering team and the overall product team to manage releases and updates of our offerings and bring new Red Hat OpenShift solutions to market
• Work with our Sales teams to respond to customer inquiries, deliver customer presentations and demos and support the overall sales process
• Support sales and marketing activities, including creating presentations, blogs, demos, and other technical collateral for our offerings
• Review and provide feedback on the documentation for our offerings

Required skills

• 5-10 years of enterprise software industry experience working in product management, technical marketing, or a similar technical product or customer-facing role
• Linux skills and direct experience with Linux container technologies and Kubernetes
• Skills in distributed systems, resource management solutions, storage technologies, software-defined networking, enterprise logging and monitoring solutions
• Familiarity with Windows containers
• Deeper knowledge of general security topics related to distributed systems within the container orchestrator market
• Deep knowledge of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem of open source solutions, especially Etcd
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Heroku, or similar cloud or application management solutions
• Ability to perform light scripting
• Bachelor's or graduate degree, preferably in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Willingness to travel up to 25%

The following are considered a plus:

• Familiarity or experience with popular runtimes and application frameworks
• Experience with open source technologies and business models
• Prior experience with the agile development process
• Familiarity with Jira or similar tool
