Job Description

Smartsheet is looking to hire a Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting Team. This is a new role in which the individual will have responsibility for large areas of the processing and reconciliation of our UK financial reporting. In this position the individual will support the finance function through the handling of the day to day activities of the UK accounting department and will work closely with the International Accounting Manager to ensure the smooth operation of all finance matters. The ideal candidate should be keen to take on responsibility and have ownership of tasks from an early stage as well as having strong analytical and organisation skills. This position is based at Smartsheet’s Edinburgh office and will report to the International Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Banking and cash reconciliations and management
  • Accounts payable recording / processing / reconciliation
  • Payroll review including journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Corporate credit card review and analysis
  • Employee expense claim management
  • VAT reconciliations and returns
  • Responsibility for balance sheet accounts and reconciliations including but not limited to:
  • fixed assets / accruals / prepayments / employee loans / inter-co transactions
  • Month end P&L variance analysis and commentary
  • Be finance link to and communication with other departments
  • Ad hoc tasks as required to support the finance function

Requirements:

  • Experience working within a finance department
  • Core understanding of account processes and procedures
  • Awareness of Data Protection requirements
  • Competence in Excel and Word software
  • Good organisational skills used in planning own work
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Good analytical ability
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
  • Able to respond to effectively changing priorities
  • Willingness to accept responsibility

Nice to Have:

  • Experience of using Netsuite accounting software
  • Recognised finance qualification
  • Developing financial controls and processes
  • Implementation and setup of various accounting tools and packages
