Job Description
Job Description BAE Systems is looking for Senior Principal Laser Scientists. These Scientists will be responsible for the generation and demonstration of SWaP-intensive laser-based technology in the UV/VIS/IR regions for use in military and aerospace environments. Candidates must have Business Development experience proposing novel scientific concepts as solutions to relevant, complex technical problems within Defense and/or Government-funded industries. Candidates must demonstrate expert analytical and practical laboratory-based experience in multiple laser technologies including, but not limited to: semiconductor lasers, fiber lasers, solid state lasers, and non-linear optics, and laser systems.
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship statusTypical Education & Experience Typically a Bachelor's Degree and 10 years work experience or equivalent experienceRequired Skills and Education BS in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent with 10 years of laser-based research experience.

MS in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent with 8 years of laser-based experience
or
Ph. D. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent with 6 years relevant experience
Secret clearance or eligibility to be processed for a Secret clearance.
Preferred Skills and Education Ph. D. in Physics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent with >6 years relevant experience is preferred.
Secret clearance or eligibility for a Secret clearance.
Theoretical design/analysis & practical construction of fiber-optic lasers/amplifiers
Pedagogical knowledge of lasers utilizing popular rare-earth dopants: Tm, Ho, Yb, Er
Techniques for free-space-coupling of high-power fiber optics
Implementing and integrating fiber-optic lasers with solid-state lasers
Designing and specifying optical properties of optical fibers and bulk-optics.
