Description: Financial Accountant – Farnborough, HampshireAre you seeking a role where you will gain international exposure working across the EMEA region; building an understanding of different country rules? A role where you will build a strong foundation as a technical accountant.
This is a busy role within a fast-paced environment, working within a small a friendly team.
Your typical day:
- Prepare and record routine journal entries.
- Posts ledger entries on a timely and accurate basis in line with Aetna and Aetna Global Benefits guidance.
- Ensures accounting records reflect accurate financial data.
- Responsible for the preparation, reconciliation and maintenance of schedules and analyses supporting internal management and statutory financial information and disclosures.
- Provide information and assistance to facilitate the completion of annual financial audits, quarterly reviews, and regulatory financial examinations.
- Prepare account analyses and roll-forwards to help identify unusual trends, accounting and internal control issues, and non-standard entries.
- Work with appropriate responsible parties to communicate issues and resolution plans.
- Responsible for various elements of the entity’s monthly financial close process including: recording of journal entries, maintenance and reconciliation of financial systems, and accurate communication to management.
- Assists in the production of information designed to meet the entity’s capital requirements.
- Assist in the implementation of company initiatives including: improved management information requirement, financial information system, financial planning and analysis tools, new products and services and internal control enhancements.
- Participate in and influence the design, operation, and enhancement and monitoring of the Company’s internal control structure including reconciliation controls on bank accounts, general ledger accounts, subsidiary systems and financial reporting system.
- Ensure compliance with Aetna and Aetna Global Benefits internal control and financial reporting guidance.
About You - Good MS office skills, including V Look ups and pivot tables.
- Previous experience of debits and credits
- Previous Financial Accounting systems experience (Dynamics and/or Oracle advantageous)
- Effective communicator (both written and verbal), able to interact across different geographical regions (in multiple different currencies) and with internal and external auditors.
