Cloud Storage DevOps Engineer

The Opportunity:

Shutterstock is looking for a talented and motivated Cloud Storage DevOps Engineer to join our Cloud Storage Services Team. The role’s primary focus is to support and expand Shutterstock’s storage services.

Our team designs, owns, and operates the storage infrastructure and services which store and serve the Shutterstock asset catalog. We are passionate about reliability, scalability, and performance. Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with our teams to:
• Build our next generation of storage services
• Write API functions based on new requirements
• Port old API functions to a modern language / framework
• Establish a new CI/CD pipeline
• Collect data and produce useful insight and alerting via ELK and New Relic
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement them
• Be a documentation pro! Take pride in your work, and enthusiastically share it with your colleagues by generating engaging documentation
• Be Pythonic! Deliver clear, consistent, and obvious solutions
• Slack channel support, participate in answering questions and performing ops work
• Incident response, participate in a 24x7 team on-call rotation

Requirements:

• BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• 3 + years relevant work experience in software development
• Experience with AWS S3 and other S3 compliant storage systems
• Experience in UNIX/Linux System Administration
• Experience writing production applications/tools in Python 3
• Experience writing automation in Ansible
• Ability to learn new languages and technology quickly
• Proven experience with troubleshooting in a highly available production environment
• Experience in full-stack monitoring, metrics collection, and reporting using tools such as ELK and New Relic
• Familiar with Github
• Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills
• Experience with change management processes
• Experience working with globally distributed teams
• Flexible schedule allowing early/late work around deployments

Bonus Qualifications:

• Good understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
• Flask and Celery experience
• Familiarity with Terraform, Jenkins, Packer, Docker, Vagrant, or other containerization or pipelining
• Compliance experience such as SOX, SOCII, or PCI
• AWS Certification
• Experience with CDN’s such as Akamai
• Experience with other cloud providers such as Google or Azure
