Medtronic’s Danvers, MA location is looking for a Technician II whose primary responsibility will be providing daily support of high-volume extrusion production lines and related ancillary equipment with specific regard to product quality, machine maintenance, product cost, process improvements, safety and customer feedback of automated and manual assembly processes and equipment.
This position performs a variety of routine and non-routine tasks involving mechanical, electrical, chemical, electronic and optical subject matter. It will require extrusion production line support, troubleshooting and root cause analysis pertaining to machine outages or equipment performance issues, maintaining and ordering spares, as well as participating in cross-functional teams to accomplish project specific goals.
The work schedule is 6:00am-2:30pm (1st shift) Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend support coverage may be required and will follow Medtronic’s non-exempt on-call policy. Holiday work may also be required to perform critical activities when production is shut down.
A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, diagnoses, adjusts, tests and calibrates equipment, components, devices or systems on extrusion lines and other support areas.
  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical and/or optical areas.
  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Collaborates with team leads and supervisors.
  • Works with Engineers to complete engineering runs for equipment and product qualifications.
  • Orders tooling/spares for extrusion and ancillary equipment.
  • Understands and supports extrusion process troubleshooting.
  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
Must Have – Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing/R&D work environment and may require vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience.
  • High School Diploma is required.
Nice to Have:
  • Associate degree in a technical program or other technical training/certification
  • Knowledge of Plastics Processing and Plastics machinery maintenance
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing environment (preferably medical manufacturing)
  • Able to define Preventative Maintenance procedures and review/maintain spare parts for equipment
  • Contact outside vendors for purchasing of materials, components, fixturing, and outside services
  • Proficient with Windows applications: Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Solid technical aptitude and familiarity with tooling and fixtures
  • Trained/certified in Lean and/or Six Sigma
  • Change management and technical documentation experience
  • Strong electromechanical & pneumatic equipment troubleshooting skills
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a cross functional team of technicians, operators, team leads, group leads, supervisors and managers.
  • Strong communication, project management and leadership skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on daily task and long-term objectives as demonstrated by self-prioritizing and managing the majority of work requests
  • Mechanical and electrical print reading skills for use in diagnosing and correcting equipment/tooling issues
  • General metrology skills (e.g., experience with machinist microscopes, calipers, ROI, weight scales, fluke meter,)
  • Aptitude for quickly learning and assimilating a broad array of information
  • Experience with processes such as automation, laser welding, RSW, assembly, and inspection
  • Experience working in FDA & ISO 13485 regulated industry
  • Ability to work overtime as required
