Frontend Engineer – Digital Eyewear Startup

BCG Digital Ventures is building a digital eyewear startup in Shanghai with one of the world’s leading technology companies in the optics space. We will be the first to provide a digitally connected end-to-end vision care solution that is tailored to the lives of modern-day professionals. Leveraging advanced technologies in Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Mobile Software Development, our product will enable everyday professionals to reliably and easily track the health of their eyes and obtain spectacles that best match their needs and personality.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Frontend Engineer who is passionate about building high-quality products on the Web and WeChat platform.

About the role

As a Frontend Engineer on the engineering team, you will:

• Work closely with product, design and backend engineers to design and implement new product features
• Develop a WeChat Mini-app and HTML5 pages from the ground up
• Design, build and maintain readable and reliable code in collaboration with other engineers
• Help improve and shape the culture and process of an early-stage organisation and engineering team
• Monitor and support production applications when issues arise

About you

• You have 2+ years of experience in software development
• You have experience working with the WeChat ecosystem (HTML5 pages and/or Mini Program)
• You have experience building Web applications using modern Javascript frameworks like React, Vue.js etc.
• You are keen to learn and improve technical and personal skills
• You are keen to ensure there is a high standard of quality and security in the applications you build
• You are interested in agile practices such as continuous delivery, TDD, code reviews and retrospectives
• You are fluent in both English and Chinese

We’re always refining our interview process but it is primarily made up of the following stages:

• An initial video or phone conversation with a recruiter
• A technical coding challenge, that you can complete in your own time
• A video or phone conversation with a member of the engineering team
• An interview with a few team members from across the organisation (face-to-face, if possible)
