The team
Our Finance team plays a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimal financial management, and efficient operations across DocuSign. The team consists of Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Revenue Operations, Investor Relations, and Business Operations. The Finance team partners across all organizations in DocuSign to appropriately allocate resources, inform key business decisions, and facilitate the execution of our operational plans.

This position
The Payroll Manager will be responsible for overseeing the timely processing of US and International payrolls for DocuSign Inc. and its subsidiaries. The position will perform a variety of payroll accounting functions in preparation, distribution and reporting of payroll while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations. This role works as a member of the Accounting team, and collaborates closely with HR, Benefits, and a wider finance team as well as third party vendors.

This position reports to the VP, Controller and will manage a payroll supervisor and three payroll team members.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in the entire payroll and timekeeping process including reviewing, validating and reconciling payroll data to ensure accurate payroll payments, reporting and records
  • Analyze, audits, reconciles and resolves payroll and timekeeping processing and employee payroll issues to ensure compliance with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles and appropriate revenue regulations
  • Oversee and participates in the payroll and timekeeping process for international (non-US) employees and expats. Ensures compliance with foreign wage and hour and reporting regulations. Researches and interprets foreign country requirements to adapt payroll processes to ensure compliance
  • Oversees and participates in daily stock payroll processing
  • Audits payroll reports and reviews and approves journal entries to record payroll. Aids in the month, quarter and year end reconciliations
  • Resolves employee and system issues and interfaces with Human Resources on all payroll related issues
  • Responds to complex employee inquiries that require detailed explanation or interpretation using extensive knowledge of established guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Works cohesively and closely with Human Resources
  • Interface with cross-functional groups, including HR, Benefits, Third party Vendors, and the wider finance team
  • Perform other assignments and special projects as requested
  • Participate and oversee third party audits such 401(k), Workers Comp as well as various Internal Audits

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of payroll experience including at least 4 as a manager of staff in a fast-paced, high volume, high growth, multi-entity public company with at least $100M in revenues.
  • BS Degree in accounting, finance or related area
  • Extensive stock payroll (RSU’s, options) processing experience
  • Customer service oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet or exceed targets
  • Possess a collaborative work style, while being equally able to manager and develop staff.
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Excel and Word

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ADP, E*Trade, NetSuite or other large ERP system
  • BS in Accounting, good working knowledge of GAAP
  • CPP certification preferred
  • Experience with processing international payrolls
  • Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a positive attitude
