Job Description
SPTD BE Litho Area is looking for a Packaging R&D Engineer to join the team tasked with developing and ramping advanced substrate and packaging technologies. The candidate is responsible for materials characterization and technology development in backend lithography processes, including lamination, exposure, cure, plasma etch and wet processes. You will be involved in various aspects of technology development, spanning from tool selection, tool installation and qualification, process development and transfer supporting pathfinding and development of different technologies in parallel. You are expected to plan and conduct experiments in the manufacturing floor and in the lab to understand fundamental process-material interactions. This is a 'hands-on' position requiring physical presence on the factory floor and/or lab. Since this will involve new technology R&D and manufacturing capability, a high tolerance of ambiguity and flexibility with respect to job roles is desired.

Qualifications
The candidate must possess a MS or Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, or other applied engineering field with 3+ years of experience in technology development environment. Additional qualifications include:
- Strong model based problem solving skills; demonstrated capability to combine solid engineering judgement and data analysis to draw fundamental conclusions, build models and design experiments.
- Knowledge and/or experience in plasma etch and sputtering process, vacuum system, and advanced semiconductor process is strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding in electromagnetics, atomic/molecular physics, surface phenomena, and material characterization techniques such as optical microscopy, SEM, TEM, FTIR, XPS, AFM, XRD, etc.
- Experience owning process tools with strong knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE), SPC, PCS, and RFC.
- Strong data analysis skills using JMP and SQL scripting.
- Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Prior experience in tool development, tool installation and qualification is desirable.
