This position, which reports to the Managing Director, Accounting (Schwab Charitable) is chiefly responsible for the monthly accounting close leading to an annual external audit. This position will assist in audit preparation reporting, expense tracking, tax form preparation, state registration filings and other ad hoc reporting needs. You will primarily responsible for the reconciliation of supporting schedules used to prepare monthly financial statements. All reporting reconciliations are high volume and require high attention to detail.

What you’re good at

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Prepare database reporting (which is already designed) for monthly reconciliations
  • Document and monitor internal controls and procedures
  • Prepare accounting reconciliations as part of the annual external financial audit
  • Review and coordinate annual State Registration requirements
  • Assist in annual and periodic tax reporting
  • Report monthly expense spending for budget tracking
  • Analyze Alternative Investment Valuation Reporting
  • Identify and assist in developing opportunities to enhance the monthly reconciliation process
  • Support, approve and process grants on an as needed basis during seasonal peaks in transactions
  • Support and participate in organizational initiatives and projects, as needed

What you have

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably Accounting)
  • Strong ability to work with large volumes of data each month in a timely and accurate manner
  • Strong understanding of investment industry
  • Flexible and willing to work extended hours/overtime during the year-end peak season (mid- July to September)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with ability to handle complex regulations surrounding charitable giving
  • Minimum 6-8 years experience, with at least 5 in accounting and/or financial services/administration
  • Hands-on general ledger accounting experience
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel spreadsheet, macro and database applications
  • A Passion for charitable giving and making a difference

Preferred Skills:

  • CPA, MBA, or post-graduate degree preferred
  • Knowledge/experience with donor advised funds a plus
  • Non-profit tax/accounting knowledge preferred
  • Understanding of Alternative Investment industry preferred
