This role requires an individual with a strong data and programming foundation to join an exciting, high-growth environment. The Data Engineer will be responsible for building massive reservoirs of data. The data engineer gathers the raw data, stores it, does batch processing or real-time processing on it, and provides the results to a data scientist or statistician who can analyze the data set. We highly value candidates who can learn quickly and are passionate about data and software engineering. If you love data this will be the job for you. Primary Responsibilities:
  • Data Engineer will develop, construct, test and maintain databases and large-scale data processing systems
  • Data Extraction: Gather data from multiple sources
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements
  • Extract data from a variety of sources
  • Build data pipelines for modeling
  • Data Transformation: Develop data set processes for optimization, reporting, and research projects.
  • Create derived data sets
  • Configure and operate data related infrastructure
  • Collaborate in a culture that promotes passion in technology
  • Deployment: Conduct regular gap analysis of the data architecture and storage environment, and optimize where necessary
  • Create production pipelines and provision application environments
  • Design and build sophisticated, highly-scalable systems using modern technologies
  • Promote continuous improvements across all stages from development to production
  • Create and maintain documentation related to data pipelines and processes
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 4+ years working on high volume data systems
  • 4+ years working with relational database systems (MySQL, MSSQL Server, Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience with data storage and retrieval
  • Experience collaborating with developers, data scientists, BI and reporting analysts and business owners
  • Python experience
Preferred Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • SQL (Server), Snowflake, R, AWS, GIT, HDFS, Kafka, Java, C++, .NET, Azure
  • Python data and machine learning tools (DASK, Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Tensorflow)
  • Docker and container management systems
  • Continuous integration systems (Buildkite, Jenkins)
  • Extremely large datasets (Terra to Petabyte)
  • ETL experience
  • Intimate knowledge of UNIX, Linux
  • Experience exposing data sources programmatically (RESTful APIs/JSON/etc)
  • Experience in transportation, logistics or fleet management
