The Role

Reporting to the Senior Culinary Manager, The Test Kitchen Manager will oversee all kitchen operations in both the LA and NY Tasty kitchen spaces. You will partner closely with recipe/editorial video producers to ensure all culinary needs for short-form digital content is accomplished in a timely and organized manner and within budget. You will lead the hiring, training and managing of all freelance recipe developers, food stylists and culinary production assistants for the Recipe/Editorial Team at LA Tasty while also recipe developing and having final approval over the recipes that appear on Tasty.co.

You Will

• Create and manage kitchen safety policies and procedures in both the Los Angeles and New York Tasty Kitchen spaces.
• Manage and oversee recipe development optimized for short-form digital videos.
• Recipe develop at a high-level and give final approval for all recipes that appear on Tasty.co ensuring safety, style, and proper techniques matching Tasty’s style guide.
• Build structures and processes for flow of learning between the Recipe/Editorial Tasty Team and freelance recipe developers and food stylists.
• Find solutions to refine production and recipe testing operations.
• Schedule, train and manage freelance recipe developers, food stylists and culinary production assistants ensuring that each follows Tasty procedures and recipes written follow the Tasty recipe style guide.
• Recipe develop at a high-level and give final approval for all recipes that appear on Tasty.co.
• Coordinate with the Line Producer to manage budgets and production expectations.
• Assist as needed, under the direction of the Head of Culinary, on tasks such as external talent shoots, Tasty branded product development/cross-testing, etc.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations in accordance to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines

You Have

• 4+ years of food service experience with at least 2+ years of management experience
• 2+ years of recipe development with experience in international cuisine and high comfort level in both sweet and savory cooking
• 2+ years of digital food media experience
• Formal culinary training is preferred, but not mandatory
• Strong interpersonal written and communication skills
• Strong organization and multitasking skills
• Strong knowledge of Tasty video content and understanding of our overall point of view on food
• Comfortable working with many members of the leadership team, producers, residents, program managers and fellows
• Ability to maintain stability under pressure and be flexible and willing to modify plans
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• Ability to occasionally work on evenings and weekends
• Unwavering commitment to working safely
• Experience on-set and a comfort level performing in higher stress set environments
• Comfort level working with talent
