Senior DevOps Engineer

Job Description

Rakuten Rewards is looking for talented and creative Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team in San Diego, CA.

Position Overview:

This job position is a critical engineering role in the Technology Operations organization to build and operate our webstack infrastructure and automate service deployments. In this job, you will run what you build. The job will develop tools and strategies for infrastructure provisioning, configuration, automate deployments, infrastructure reliability testing and monitoring to support engineering and product organization requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Continuously improve our infrastructure to be easy to provision, deploy, scale, secure and be fault-tolerant.
• Work closely with System Architects, Engineers, Product Managers to meet their environment setup and service automation needs.
• Develop system and service deployment scripts for Production and Pre-Production web services in AWS cloud.
• Passionate about automation and infrastructure as code principles.
• Develop a process to make DevOps as part of the engineering development, service deployment and operations lifecycle.
• Ensure the secure deployment and operations processes to be PCI compliant.
• Services and Application monitoring, logging & analytics
• Available for 24x7 on-call rotation schedule.
• Work well with a team of engineers distributed globally to ensure smooth operations round the clock.

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in Linux Sysadmin & Webstack administration
• 5+ years of experience in Nginx/Apache, PHP, Java is mandatory.
• 3+ years working experience with AWS, Terraform, Packer, Chef, Jenkins in a production operations environment.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking principles, concepts and troubleshooting skills.
• Mastered scripting skills in one of Ruby/Python to solve production problems.
• Production system integration, log collection and analysis, builds and performance monitoring/tuning.
• Production experience with Docker & Kubernetes is preferred.
• Knowledge of payment systems and PCI standards is preferred.
• AWS Certification is a plus.
