The Boeing Company is seeking a Social Media Content & Operations Manager in Chicago, IL. We are looking for an experienced and results-driven leader for the Digital Strategies team. This manager will lead a team of digital communicators and social media specialists supporting Boeing’s Communications function and will play a pivotal role in the expansion and future direction of Boeing’s overall digital approach. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for digital technologies, deep knowledge of digital and social channels, and be a true leader and coach.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define and maintain the strategic use of Boeing’s global social media presence to meet Boeing business objectives and consistently reflect, strengthen and modernize the brand.
  • Supervise digital community management and paid media specialists as they manage Boeing social media platforms and implement paid media executions in support of program and functional business priorities.
  • Collaboratively develop and lead the adoption of social media, paid and organic, best practices across all business units and programs, including Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Defense & Space, and Global Services.
  • Work closely with in-house and external Performance Marketing Specialists (incl. email, SEO/SEM, web) to ensure digital activation plans and evaluation frameworks are integrated and aligned.
  • Work closely with in-house Data Specialists to drive 1st-party data acquisition strategies and campaign optimizations across social media.
  • Increase visibility of Boeing thought leadership across social media and digital content to help position Boeing as an aerospace industry leader and enduring global industrial champion.
  • Drive a data-first culture amongst the team ensuring that performance is measured through the lens of business and functional priorities and KPIs.
  • Provide strategic guidance for emerging platforms and platform updates (e.g. live functionality, new platforms, and enhanced presence on current platforms).
  • Maintain strong social media governance and risk mitigation, including audit social media governance and implementation of account security updates.
  • Partner with News and Information and Global Brand Management on process for threat and crisis monitoring.
  • Partner with Employee Communications to support their goals and initiatives with social media support, including Facebook Groups and Employee Social Media Guidelines and training.
  • Advance enterprise knowledge of Digital and Social Media to develop best team and talent, including regular training, hub for training materials, platform guidelines and best practices.
  • Oversee enterprise social media content planning and distribution process, with input from communicators in business units and functions to ensure alignment.
  • Develop and oversee responsive messaging process and approach ensuring the alignment of multiple stakeholders.
  • Develop and oversee the measurement framework for channel health reports utilizing our CRM and social listening technologies.
  • Maintain and continually look for improvements in our planning and publishing tools.
  • Provide strategic guidance for Global social media integration and activation, supporting the Boeing Global 2025 plan.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all of our social media platform representatives both domestically and internationally.
  • Partner with leaders at our digital advertising agency to ensure alignment with the platform content strategy and media buying across teams.
  • Lead, coach and mentor specialist-level communicators to exemplify Boeing behaviors and values; achieve high performance and professional development.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years of experience creating and implementing communications plans, strategies, and tactics
  • 5+ years of experience in brand marketing, communications, marketing, and/or advertising
  • 5+ years of experience creating or managing digital and social media content/channels
  • 5+ years of experience managing or leading people or teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Multi-channel digital experience or expertise e.g. (e.g. Web, Email marketing, SEM/SEO)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing or related field of study
