Tax Credit Operations Manager - New Orleans, LA

Tax Credit Operations: Operations group supporting the Capital Markets line of business in the Commercial Bank division of Capital One, consisting of a portfolio of tax credit investment products including New Markets Tax Credits and Alternative Energy Tax Credits.

Responsibilities:

Manage all operational processes and portfolio of active credit facilities and equity investments for New Markets Tax Credit and Alternative Energy Tax Credit loans and investments. Role responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage a back-office operations team of associates with varying experience levels
  • Lead, identify, and develop associate talent
  • Provide inspirational leadership empowering associates to achieve their full potential
  • Advance operational strategy and future oriented goals, while inspiring innovative team mentality
  • Develop relationships and build buy-in with internal stakeholders (including Accounting, Tax, Finance, Line of Business, Risk, Technology, and Leadership) establishing clear communication models around product support
  • Maintain professionalism during team management and representation of the organization
  • Become a product, operations, and overall subject matter expert in the Tax Credit industry
  • Prioritize and drive team workflow, both ongoing and ad-hoc
  • Maintain team and organizational compliance, manage risk, and uphold exceptional customer service
  • Lead development and regular reporting of team metrics to senior leadership
  • Lead team projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Challenge behavior and provide opportunities for team and organizational growth
  • Maintain and develop client relationships while delivering a beautiful client experience

Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • A driven mentality and eagerness to develop their knowledge around complex products and lead operational functions in support of the Tax Credit portfolio
  • A desire to lead through inspiration and empowerment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Project management experience, and ability to lead multiple initiatives, timelines and deliver quality products
  • Ability to discern solutions from both detailed and high level data
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Presentation skills and comfortable speaking in front of associates across the organizational hierarchy

The Candidate should possess and/or be willing to contribute to the development of financial industry “Skills of the Future” which include, but are not limited to:

  • Tech Fluency - Candidate has a desire to understand top-level technology trends and the possibilities these trends offer their team and their LOB
  • Design Mindset - Candidate doesn’t just optimize, he or she challenges assumptions and constraints with the process
  • Workload Management - Candidate gathers information from a broad range of sources to make the best decisions and work efficiently
  • Adaptive Thinking - Candidate can consider different viewpoints that conflict with their natural bias

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent Certification
  • At least 1 year of People Management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or military experience
  • Banking or financial products experience
  • Experience defining business requirements and conducting end-user testing for cloud-based software development
  • Machine Learning, AI, RPA(Robotic Process Automation), or equivalent systematic process automation experience
