We are hiring an Autonomous Vehicle Operations Manager (AVOM) to support testing and operations with a laser focus on safety. You will work cross-functionally with all levels of the company, including General Motors to meet shared goals while balancing conflicting demands. An emphasis on optimization, efficiency and continuous improvements will be key to success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Establish and drive the highest AV operations safety standards in keeping with regulatory requirements and our Safety First culture
  • Manage office, garage, and field operations to maximize vehicle utilization
  • Identify, escalate, research, and implement operational efficiencies and improvements
  • Manage a team of direct report full-time employees to Cruise goals/objectives
  • Oversee the daily operational functions and tasks of a large team of contractors
  • Coordinate with on-premise supplier leadership about contingent workforce
  • Work effectively across functions and organizations to achieve key results
  • Communicate seamlessly among key stakeholders about status, risks, and escalations
  • Drive continuous improvement through experimentation and process optimization in service of maximizing vehicle uptime
  • Support team recruiting efforts

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of experience managing large teams
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to employment
  • Proven project management skills with demonstrated ability to own and drive projects and research end-to-end
  • Able to handle dynamic assignments, which may include a flexible schedule
  • Problem-solver in an evolving environment
  • Ability to keep calm and perform well under pressure
  • Ability to offer immediate, fair, and honest feedback when needed
  • Impeccable communication skills, with an emphasis on effective written communications and public speaking
  • Computer/technology proficiency including Google Suite and Smartsheets for organization and analysis
