What you’ll be doing ...
The Solution Architect (SA) is the Staff level Architect in the Professional Services Delivery team. It is expected that the Solution Architect will possess considerable skills and abilities as a consultant/architect with demonstrated proficiencies in these key areas with a strong track record of providing end-to-end system architecture solutions and customer engagement management. The Professional Services Delivery team are the post-sales implementers of Tableau solutions, and therefore highly customer-facing. In this role, the incumbent will be expected to spend more than 70-80% of their time on-site with customers driving enablement and adoption. The Solution Architect is responsible for providing technical expertise, partnering with our customers on design, developing implementation strategies and architectural solutions to drive adoption and promote the use of Tableau best practices.
A key aspect of Consulting at Tableau is nurturing customers to drive adoption and repeat purchases. The SA is responsible for guiding the engagement to enable those objectives and providing feedback to the Sales teams about future opportunities.
Some of the things you’ll be doing include ...
- Become an expert in the features, benefits and application of Tableau’s products – Deep understanding of our Server product(s) and it’s integration into client solutions, and an intermediate level understanding of our Desktop/frontend product(s)
- Provide billable Professional Services to Tableau Customers
- Extensive travel to customer locations to provide delivery of Services
- Conduct Discovery exercises at customer sites, build detailed implementation plans, and coordinate the delivery of the solution
- Communicate via phone, email, face-to-face and web meetings with customers assisting and guiding them through the proposal and implementation process
- Create Post Engagement Summaries and Document final solutions for customers
- Conduct ad-hoc onsite customer workshops
- Generate SOWs (Statement of Work) and Document final solutions for customers
- Help identify trends, training needs and new programs / services
- Own the customer relationship in strategic accounts for a specific individual customer or customers
- Assist Practice Managers, Professional Services Management and Sales with specific scoping or technical / guidance in pre-sales discussions
- Help mentor / coach other consultants.
- This job requires travel for up to 60% of the time.
Who you are ...
- Experienced . 8 - 10 years’ experience in a Consulting or PS Delivery role in related industry s uch as BO (Business Objects), Cognos, OBIEE (Oracle), Crystal Reports, etc. Experience with Microsoft Active Directory or NT Lan Manager (NTLM). Experienced in Cloud Solutions and User Management Solutions.
- Highly Technical . Extensive Database skills (at least one of the following)- DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, Amazon RedShift, SAP HANA, Exasol or similar. Knowledge of databases, warehouses, business intelligence systems and data analysis tools. Programming Languages (desired) – Python, R, Java.
- Technically Savvy. You don’t shy away from opportunities to get into technology – and you can learn it quickly.
- Educated . Bachelor's Degree with communication, technical or business focus preferred (or equivalent experience) preferred.
- Problem Solver . You are a natural problem solver with a curiosity about technology. Others describe you as a highly creative, curious technologist, and you have excellent research skills.
- Communicator . Your verbal and written skills are top notch. Good Business English. You have an outstanding ability to empathize with customers and convey confidence, and are skilled with conflict resolution, collaboration and small group facilitation skills.
- Organized . You have an uncanny ability to juggle and prioritize a high volume workload and handle details accurately and in a timely manner under pressure.
