Senior Audit Data Analyst

Job Description

The Senior Audit Data Analyst position will focus on performing data analysis in support of the Corporate Audit organization, including the audit risk assessment, audit engagement planning, controls testing, deficiency impact reviews and reporting. This role will actively drive the integration of data analytics and associated data visualizations into internal audit projects to deliver innovative, insightful, and actionable analyses.

The candidate selected for this position will be able to work from either Seattle, WA or Saint Louis, MO. The selected candidate will work closely with internal auditors, audit investigation team, business process owners, and information technology professionals to provide valuable business insight and recommend actions in support of the audit engagement life cycle, audit investigations, and the internal audit function. The ideal candidate will have a hybrid of audit expertise, business acumen, and data analytics and database experience to perform the following types of activities.

Position Responsibilities Include:

• Analyze business process controls, understand the relationship with the data supporting them, identify risks and design and develop innovative data analytic test approaches applicable to audit objectives
• Synthesize meaningful insights from disparate sources of data. Leverage audit acumen to effectively interpret analytics results to ensure clear identification and communication of themes, trends, and emerging risks for escalation to Internal Audit management
• Provide actionable insight, business recommendations and potential solutions (such as what happened, why it happened, what will happen next, and what actions are needed)
• Develop and maintain library of standard and repeatable analytics
• Support the corporate audit investigations group with periodic forensic investigations and root cause analyses
• Build productive relationships with audit teams, business partners, data and systems owners to identify relevant data sources, ensure availability of data and information and to encourage the development and use of analytics within the control environment
• Leverage and share technical skills with business intelligence, analytic, and visualization tools such as ACL, SQL, Tableau, R, Cognos, SAP, and MS Office suite
• Leverage working knowledge of relational database management systems, data models, database reporting, database network protocols to pull data directly from various sources into advanced analytics tools
• Deliver results in excellent verbal, written and presentation communications, for clear and concise interaction with all levels of management and technical professionals

Required Qualifications:

• The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee
• 8+ years' experience conducting internal audits in accordance with IIA standards or worked in a public accounting firm
• 1+ years' experience in a role analyzing data using ACL
• Bachelor's degree or higher

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years' experience in data analytics and/or business intelligence
• 2+ years' experience in Business Intelligence/data analytics tools (Microsoft Power BI, Dashboards, SQL, Tableau, etc.)
• 1+ years' experience analyzing data using ACL
• Certificate in any of the following: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 14 years' related work experience, etc.).
