Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Industry experience in software development in Java, Python, and Javascript.
  • Experience with systems software design, including storage, networking, deployment and scaling methodologies.
  • Unix/Linux systems administration experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform and its suite of serving, hosting, and storage services.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: DevOps, SRE, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Continuous Builds, Config Management, Infrastructure as Code, Operations, IT Admin, Software Automation.
  • Knowledge in network administration.

As a Web Solutions Engineer for Google Cloud, lots of tooling is required. You'll work to fill the feature gap between both off-the-shelf tools and internal Google tools that allow engineers to troubleshoot complex production problems.

Web Solutions Engineers work on enhancing our support platform that provides tailored views of Cloud Support systems to different users, and stores data for automating workflows by developers.

In this role, you'll work closely with Engineering, Product Management, and Deployment teams to identify needs to improve the product's vision and to make Google customers successful. By applying your in-depth technical experience, you will develop a deep understanding of, and drive enhancements for, Google’s services architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain an in-depth understanding of Google's product technology, architecture and implementation, build and transfer knowledge to Google’s Cloud support team members.
  • Guide or perform design and implementation of new support, productivity or investigation tools to increase efficiency for the technical support process.
  • Work closely with multiple G Suite product management and software engineering teams to understand ways to improve the product, and interact with QA teams to drive excellent testing quality.
  • Guide and enable support engineering teams in Google Cloud.
