Speed is of the essence, excellence is the standard. So working to high service levels, our team receives, assesses, troubleshoots and escalates support requests to enable our day-to-day operations. We also work with managers and supervisors to resolve serious problems and develop operational policies relating to IT support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confers with senior personnel, users and outside vendors to identify computer data access requirements
  • Performs system monitoring using approved tools and processes to validate system health.
  • Works in conjunction with senior personnel in the design of the delivery system (e.g., hardware, operating system, middleware, network configuration, data structure) to meet business requirements.
  • Participates in customer and IT Change Boards to understand business requirements and provide analysis to determine changes required.
  • Evaluates business impact against environmental conditions (e.g., server configuration/performance, network performance, drive settings, error logs, etc), analyzes potential solutions and takes action to resolve problems across complex and diverse server environments.

  • Knowledge:
  • Completely understands and applies job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Possesses general knowledge of other related disciplines.Problem Solving:
  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Develops solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.Discretion:
  • Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions. Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.Impact:
  • Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results, reaching erroneous decisions or making recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.Liaison:
  • Interacts frequently with inter-organizational personnel and external customers. Represents the organization by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Typical Education/Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years systems administration, design and supporting complex corporate Unix/Linux infrastructure systems enviroment
  • Formal (or progression towards) qualifications in Information Science, Information Technology or equivalent work experience
  • Systematic and logical problem solving skills.
  • High level of customer service and interpersonal communications skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise documentation

Other specific criteria:

  • The ability to undertake adhoc tasks out of hours and available to be rostered for on-call duties when required.
  • Ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security clearance to SECRET or above.
  • Project coordination experience
