Your Role and Responsibilities
Servo Engineer in Tape Storage R&D. The individual will be expected to design, analyze, and resolve problems in tape track following and reel-reel servo systems as integral part of the IBM tape development team. The individual would also be responsible for providing technical support for IBM tape manufacturing and IBM tape clients.
This position is located in Tucson, AZ
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
The candidate should have a strong background in electrical or mechanical engineering with a specialization in control engineering and have excellent skills working “hands-on” in the laboratory. Experience in design and optimizing compensation is desired.
An understanding of tape data storage systems will be an area of active learning to gain and sustain leadership in the development magnetic tape products.
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Familiarity in one or more of the following areas will be useful: H-infinity and state space control, adaptive control systems, system modeling, and electronics.
Experience in tape servo systems will be useful. .
