Job Description

Excited to change the face of local commerce by designing experiences that thousands of merchants use worldwide to reach a marketplace of more than 20 Million active monthly customers?

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success.

We’re looking for Product Designers at all levels to join our team!

You’re a good fit if you’re passionate about UX, and helping local businesses succeed. You're extremely detail-oriented, organized and willing to push teams with creative and constructive solutions. A great communicator with keen design judgment comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams - who stays calm in a storm. Someone who enjoys collaborating with teams to stay focused and effective, and can demonstrate success doing this in similar contexts. If you don’t know an answer you’ll dig until you find it. You can sell your ideas to internal clients, because you’re an amazing presenter who can articulate well constructed rationale behind your design decisions. You're customer-informed, because you know good product design isn’t about anyone’s personal taste. You love the process of understanding pain points and solving real customer problems, and your instinct is to verify your assumptions with real people who use the tools your designing.

You're excited to collaborate with other designers, user researchers, content strategists, product managers, engineers to craft simple solutions. Like to set the agenda, and recognize designing high-impact products that result in significant business impact is more important than winning awards. You think if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing right. You can contribute at all stages of experience design – from product strategy to interaction design, to specifying glorious pixels.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have the resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Collaborate with UX researchers to better understand customer needs and pain points, and verify your designs are solving for them.
  • Collaborate with Content Strategists to understand how effective content can supercharge the clarity of your designs in a voice customers understand.
  • Sketching, concept generation, and other ideation exercises to push the boundaries and questions the strategies behind what we build.
  • Create flows, wireframes, animations, storyboards, and any other visualizations that make explicit the functional and systems core of a product’s design, across all relevant channels and devices.
  • Collaborating effectively to define and prototype proposed designs and interactions (using the best tools to express your ideas).
  • Contribute ideas to develop new or improve existing products & services.
  • Lovingly craft final design deliverables and product specifications.
  • Deeply understand, contribute to, and if necessary challenge the requirements and business goals of projects you work on.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to effectively and efficiently develop solutions.
