Comprised of Disney’s international media businesses and the Company’s various streaming services, the Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment aligns technology, content and distribution platforms to expand the Company’s global footprint and deliver world-class, personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world.
The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer and International segment (DTCI) is a global, multiplatform media, technology and distribution organization for high-quality content created by Disney’s Studio Entertainment and Media Networks groups.
DTCI includes Disney’s international media operations and the Company’s direct-to-consumer businesses globally, including the upcoming Disney-branded direct-to-consumer streaming service, the Company’s ownership stake in Hulu, and the ESPN+ sports streaming service, programmed in partnership with ESPN. BAMTECH Media, developer of the ESPN+ and Disney-branded streaming platforms, oversees all consumer-facing digital technology and products across the Company as part of the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment.
In the role of Director, Digital Marketing, we are looking for a highly-experienced media executive to guide the overall digital marketing efforts for our brand and original content campaigns. Reporting to the VP, Digital Marketing, this position will oversee our social, digital, influencer marketing, and platform relationships, while working across The Walt Disney Company’s internal stakeholders including Disney Streaming Services, our central social and product teams, international, and our studios and media networks marketing groups. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for growing brands and cultivating audiences, all while having a firm grasp on how to acquire and retain subscribers.
Position is full-time, based in Burbank, CA.
Responsibilities :
  • Develop and oversee the digital strategy for brand and content campaigns on behalf of the service.
  • Partner with various digital marketing teams within the company for campaigns around originals coming from our studios.
  • Guide numerous bespoke campaigns around originals, utilizing the significant earned media that comes out of our central social media team.
  • Partner with performance marketing, particularly around brand and content campaigns, and ensure that they align with our overall paid media strategy.
  • Guide the overall strategy, cadence, and quality of all social content and digital assets being created.
  • Steer the talent relations for our digital marketing efforts, by working closely with showrunners and stars of our originals on digital and social promotions.
  • Guide the global digital strategy for our business, including the organic growth of the service’s social media presence around the world.
  • Develop the strategy for all integrations into the company’s overall digital ecosystem, from owned and operated websites to apps.
  • Oversee and ensure we have healthy relationships with social media platforms and influencer networks in order to create partnerships that result in meaningful earned media.
  • Partner closely with our analytics team to develop the strategy around what fans are responding to both in and out of the service.
  • Manage and develop the overall content and basics budgets for the earned digital marketing for the service.

Basic Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum.
  • Minimum seven years of experience executing digital marketing campaigns for a large-scale media company.
  • Experience launching content, brands or services across multiple territories around the world.
  • Deep understanding of how to build brands, especially in the digital space, from the ground up.
  • Extensive history with social media platforms and a thorough understanding of how to drive significant earned media value through them.
  • Knowledge and experience with social measurement and sentiment tools (both native and third party) as well as the ability to synthesize this data into meaningful results.
  • Past experience in dealing with both talent and the creative communities on major social media campaigns.
  • Previous experience with creating “top of the funnel” activity for paid performance marketing efforts.
  • Strong leadership skills, both in terms of leading teams as well influencing key stakeholders in a highly-matrixed environment.
  • Adept at facing the many challenges that come with a newly formed organization and a strong passion for driving results.
  • Ability to create and present high-level presentations to key partners within our business.
  • Experience in managing annual marketing budgets.
