Position Overview:

Expedia Group Media Solutions is looking for an individual based in Tokyo with natural enthusiasm for the travel and digital advertising industries, with the ability to build and maintain long-term, effective relationships across a large portfolio of key advertisers in Japan and Korea.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Regional Manager, Business Development Manager will be directly accountable for executing the successful sales negotiation of online advertising campaigns, supporting the optimization of Media Solutions related revenues and aiming to meet individual revenue quotas.

The primary focus of Business Development Manager is to independently build a strategy in order to maintain a pipeline of opportunities, across the NEA territory, that ensures attainment of set quarterly and annual revenue targets from sales of our Display Advertising products.

What you'll do

Sales Strategy:

  • Drive and execute strategy with Sr. Regional Manager to grow Media Solutions business. Responsible for maintaining a book of exisiting partners and identifying key businesses to sell the benefits of partnering with Expedia Group as an advertising partner of choice. This includes representing the advertising strategy of the partner to develop campaigns that meet their needs. Business Development Manager will execute standard contracts as well as work with guidance on complex deals that would require more customization and "out of the box" solutions.

Sales Negotiation:

  • Own and lead the advertising sales process end to end from identification of new prospects, to developing an understanding of client needs and mapping those needs with planning and strategic selling. Will include a portfolio of domestic and international partnerships. The ability to navigate senior level management and understand the political pressures of an organization to get to a positive decision is key to success. Will provide customers with a consultative sales experience. Focus on campaign level negotiations and annual plans.

Partner Launch/ Internal Stakeholder Management:

  • Oversee the launch & on-going, day-to-day performance of advertising partnerships and collaborate across other functions within the wider Expedia business (including internal supply teams, marketing, operations, billing, product & media planners) to ensure successful campaign delivery and resolve issues as they arise, working closely with Market Managers to drive collaborative market plans, driving accountability for results throughout organization.

Commercial Results/Performance:

  • Define and deliver continuous improvement in revenue contribution to Media Solutions leveraged through insightful measurement and ROI analysis of new partnerships on an ongoing basis.

Personal Specifications:

  • We are searching for a good team player, who enjoys developing and presenting a digital advertising, revenue-generating solution to a marketing challenge, and who shows high levels of account management and relationship building skills. They need to be creative and able to perform in a fast-paced, highly changing marketplace and be driven to meet and exceed revenue targets and take full responsibility for their patch. As a good communicator, natural listener, presenter and negotiator, the right candidate will demonstrate ease when dealing with Digital teams, Planners, trading teams and Marketing Managers/Directors.

Who you are
You’ll fit this role if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in media sales or travel related industry.
  • Goal and target oriented. Able to handle stress and multi-task. Have a proven track record of meeting revenue target.
  • Ability to provide consultative selling approach by analyzing clients' needs and identifying creative solutions.
  • Ability to effectively pitch and influence at senior management level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill, including the delivery of presentations is essential for success in this role.
  • Be able to communicate and manage relationship effectively across various parties – both internal and external.
  • Understanding regional travel and media landscape. Ability to adapt based on individual client/market situation and take relevant responsibility accordingly in order to obtain new revenue stream.
  • Experience dealing with local tourism organizations, government officials or any related media agencies.
  • Experience/high comfort level with PowerPoint, Excel, and Salesforce (preferred) and be comfortable retrieving and interpreting data from various databases, including translating takeaways into PowerPoint slides
  • Fluency in both, English and Japanese for written and verbal skill is required
  • Ability to travel is required.
