GoDaddy is looking for an attorney to manage our UK legal program. This position will work with directly with GoDaddy’s Legal, HR, M&A, Marketing, Brand Directors, Tax, Internal Audit, Procurement, Finance and many other teams to support all GoDaddy UK business operations. This position reports to the General Counsel, International Affairs. It is expected that someone with between 3 and 6 years PQE would be suitable for the role.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead contract review and negotiation across all UK entities and other jurisdictions.
  • Provide general data protection advice to UK and other European entities while demonstrating an understanding of how these affect online businesses.
  • Be primarily responsible for all corporate matters across our UK and Jersey entities along with our entities in Spain, Bulgaria and Romania.
  • Partner with each of our UK brands to advise on customer issues, product matters and to continually review and update customer facing terms and conditions.
  • Deal with any litigation concerning any of our UK, Spanish, Romanian or Bulgarian entities.
  • Maintain an effective compliance program covering GoDaddy’s domestic and international operations, including overseeing training programs and identifying potential areas of compliance risk.
  • Be the primary UK contact for all legal matters, whatever those may be. Support is provided from US colleagues.
  • Develop, draft, review, revise, and implement compliance-related corporate policies and procedures (e.g., Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery, Customer Screening).
  • Develop procedures for handling alleged violations of compliance-related policies and the appropriate reporting.
  • Develop and report compliance program metrics to the Chief Legal Officer and the Board of Directors.
  • Keep abreast of compliance best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience as an in-house counsel, preferably with a multi-national organisation.
  • Ideally between 3 and 6 years PQE experience.
  • Current practising certificate.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Ability to think on your feet and to take on issues outside your areas of experience.
  • Highly developed business acumen to identify and understand issues impacting our business and operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an attention to detail; must be adept at explaining complex compliance principles and concepts to managers and executives.
  • Must be able to see the big picture and effectively prioritize projects based on level of risk.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with an ability to meet tight deadlines on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations tactfully yet firmly, to be assertive without being adversarial, and to take unpopular positions when necessary while maintaining trust and credibility.
  • An adaptable, flexible attitude.
