Revenue Accountant

Job Description

The Accounting team is best in class support of our operating business. As part of this team, the Revenue Accountant will maintain a complete and accurate general ledger that enables robust financial reporting and support all aspects of the revenue cycle. You will also help to scale the Accounting team’s knowledge, processes and systems to support Gusto’s growth. This role will have broad exposure across various functions at Gusto. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

• Perform monthly close activities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and flux analysis related to revenue, deferred revenue, and sales tax
• Maintain a thorough understanding of our ERP and internal invoicing system
• Identify opportunities and partner with internal teams to improve, centralize or automate processes and month-end reconciliations
• Calculate and record sales commissions under ASC 606
• Perform contract review and document revenue accounting treatment
• Calculate and maintain ongoing partnerships rev share agreements using SQL
• Support external audit and miscellaneous reporting requirements

Here’s what we're looking for:

• 4+ years of professional experience
• Mix of public accounting and operational experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Knowledge of US GAAP (particularly ASC 605)
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Tech savvy, strong Excel knowledge

Bo nus points for:

• Experience with NetSuite and/or SQL
• Knowledge of ASC 606
• CPA or progress towards one
