We are looking for an engineering manager to join us to build and grow a great team, lead the Merchant Mobile Engineering team team, driving both iOS and Android development of our Merchant-facing mobile app. You will be leading a team of developers in Berlin and beyond, nurturing their career development, collaborating with product, design, and QA partners, and ensuring smooth delivery of our features while ensuring we operate with engineering rigor appropriate for our scale.

You will:

• Be a combination of a highly-technical hands-on software coach and an effective leader.
• Recruit, inspire and develop team members.
• Hold your own in technical discussions, ask the key questions to drive the right conversations, and have strategic influence with the product and business and other engineering organizations.
• Communicate cross-functionally across various teams, organizations and internal and external stakeholders to drive engineering efforts on merchant product initiatives
• Work together with product management, business, internal and external engineering teams to scope, design, and develop the mobile experiences for our merchants.
• Work with engineering leaders within the team and beyond to drive our technical strategy for our merchant mobile platform.
• Encourage a data-driven culture to improve the efficiency, scalability, stability, and security of merchant applications to help scale the company.
• Partner with other engineering teams to drive leverage, reuse and technical craftsmanship in the larger engineering organization

We’re excited about you if you have:

• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years experience - at least 2 years as a manager
• Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
• Track record of building, shipping, and maintaining user facing experiences
• 3+ years of experience in leading complex, technically-challenging, cross-functional software oriented projects from inception to delivery
• Exceptional technical architect with a penchant to design highly scalable web architecture using Java based stacks
• Passion for leading teams and setting the vision
• A​ technologist at heart and not shy of writing code if needed
• Experience designing, building and supporting external APIs a major plus
