What you'll be doing...
The Director, Digital Marketing is a critical role on our global digital marketing team and a significant contributor to overall revenue and customer experience. As part of a larger marketing group, successful candidates will collaborate with integrated marketing, marketing operations, and product marketing teams to lead large scale marketing programs that grow global reach and adoption of Tableau’s products and services. This role will represent digital marketing and lead media and digital strategy development for designated audiences as part of Tableau’s in-house media/marketing capability.
Responsibility in this role stretches across the entire customer journey from brand awareness, to prospecting, to customer engagement programs that drive retention. The Director, Digital Marketing will lead a high-performing team of digital media and marketing professionals who steward our media investment and deliver amazing customer experiences. In addition to planning and executional duties, this role will lead strategic projects to further advance our digital media and marketing capabilities.
Some of the things you will be doing include...
- Drive digital media and marketing leadership with our company.
- Nurture and grow an adept digital team. Support resourcing, hiring, mentorship, and performance management.
- Lead digital strategy and media recommendation development.
- Oversee campaign execution and measurement including creative development to ensure best-in-class cross-channel execution and brand consistency.
- Drive development and use of customer journey maps to ensure a customer centric perspective.
- Work collaboratively on campaign strategy with other Global Demand Generation team leaders, to define priorities and opportunities to drive exceptional customer experiences.
- Closely monitor and report on channel(s) KPI’s against business goals, derive performance insights, and represent digital marketing in executive reviews.
- Represent digital marketing performance and progress of key initiatives to senior management and other stakeholders.
- Drive execution of a strategic learning agenda and support ongoing reporting of performance for all investments.
- Foster and support a data-driven culture where decisions are supported by market trends, research, testing, and analysis.
- Support projects that advance our digital marketing capability, including hiring talent and leveraging new technologies, platforms, data, and processes.
- Serve as a media point of contact and subject matter expert for external and internal partners. Be able to represent [in detail all] of our current digital capabilities and platform integrations.
- Identify opportunities to drive continuous improvement in all aspects of digital marketing.

- Strategic. A strategic marketer who is intellectually curious, pro-active, and an opportunistic thinker
- Excellent Communication . Strong, adept communicator. Ability to communicate with Executive Management and create strong relationships throughout all functions within the organization
- Leader. Experience managing large-scale digital media and marketing programs. Direct experience working across programmatic media, paid search, direct media, and paid social. Strong people management skills and fanatical attention to detail.
- Doman Expert. Expertise developing and executing successful direct response and brand building programs. Demonstrated ability to develop and optimize highly engaging [digital] experiences
- Innovative. Proven ability to advance digital marketing maturity. Includes data transformation, capability building, and thought leading innovation
- Technically Savvy. Demonstrated analytical expertise; collecting and interpreting the right data from a variety of platforms to make solid business recommendations
- Educated. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or equivalent
- Experienced. 10+ years of media planning/buying experience in both brand and direct response contexts. 4+ years of people management experience
