The Director, Technology FP&A will be the key finance business partner to the CTO at Airbnb and will help drive business outcomes through the efficient allocation of resources and data driven insights. The Director, Technology FP&A will work closely with various members of the CTO leadership team and with various teams across finance including FP&A, Accounting, Investor Relations, Operations, and Financial Systems. This role will take the lead on all budgeting, planning and forecasting activities across the CTO organization.
The team is looking for a Director to drive scale and efficiency across our infrastructure and product development investments as Airbnb continues to reimagine and reengineer how millions of people experience travel. Experience with the complexities of driving scale at a multi-billion dollar, international business is critical for success in this key leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the CTO of Airbnb to drive finance and business outcomes through the efficient allocation of resources and data driven insights
- Develop a deep understanding of infrastructure at Airbnb and the related financial and operating levers to drive leverage and efficiency
- Drive all finance related activities across the CTO org including but not limited to: annual planning, monthly/quarterly forecasting, variance analysis, management reporting and insights
- Proactively evolve organization to meet the needs of a quickly changing CTO organization
- Lead and develop a team of finance professionals with financial responsibility for all key commercial infrastructure deals equating to >$300M / year
- Proven success negotiating directly with executives from other companies to develop business terms
- Own and develop a long term financial plan for infrastructure at Airbnb that is grounded in consumption metrics and aligned with Airbnb’s long term growth plan
- Partner closely with Corporate FP&A to ensure all corporate deliverables are met and insights on performance are delivered on time for management reporting deadlines
- Provide the investor mindset: Create the business investment cases for new initiatives and help leadership prioritize resourcing, considering the range of outcomes an initiative may have on the company and how to push for upside
- Implement controls around key spending areas that satisfy the needs of accounting/finance and business partners
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience with 5+ years directly overseeing large infrastructure budgets for tier 1 companies (Must have overseen at least $2B of annual expenses)
- Direct experience analyzing and structuring deals with AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience supporting the CTO at a large, reputable technology organization
- Proactive and creative problem solver with tremendous intellectual horsepower
- Exceptional ability to effectively collaborate with and influence business partners
- Strong experience leading, developing and growing high performing teams
- Strong communication skills to all levels of the organization, including board members
- Experience working directly in an engineering function highly desirable
