Strategic Operations Manager - Regulatory Operations

City Operations, Operations & Launch in Toronto, Canada Apply Now

At Uber, we ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion. We take on big problems to help drivers, riders, delivery partners, and eaters get moving in more than 600 cities around the world.

We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently. If you have the curiosity, passion, and collaborative spirit, work with us, and let’s move the world forward, together.

The Strategic Operations Manager role is a unique opportunity to have a direct impact on your city through the growth and optimization of the driver population on Uber’s platform. This is critical as it directly correlates to continually improving the rider experience through greater driver availability, while minimizing costs, and streamlining processes associated with our local operations. This data-driven role calls for a rare combination of analytical thinking and interpersonal ability to support our very valuable driver-partners.

You will form deep relationships with cross-functional organizations such as Customer Support, Marketing, and Public Affairs to ensure that we are delivering the best end-user experience for our customers and for cities. Uber is generating vast amounts of data in every one of our cities every day. We use this data to inform everything we do: ensure balance in the marketplace, deploy incentives and promotions, understand customer behavior, and more. The role is ultimately responsible for making sure we have drivers on the road, where we need them, and when we need them, at all times.

What You’ll Do:

  • Create and implement initiatives that improve the driver partner experience throughout the driver lifecycle
  • Project manage cross-functional stakeholders across Operations, Product, Marketing, CommOps, and Public Affairs to accomplish our objectives
  • Work with our counterparts in the US and internationally to create new global business standards and to bring local insight to project implementation in Canada
  • Drive centralization, wherever possible, of operations and processes in order to drive efficiency and effectiveness of our programs
  • Develop analytical frameworks, build models, and present findings to support the company in strategic decision-making

Example Projects:

  • Work with local regulators and internal Operations, Marketing, Public Affairs, and Product teams to operationalize regulatory obligations and help launch new markets in Canada
  • Make complex business decisions to manage user experience, and to increase platform accessibility, transparency, and safety
  • Build systems and revise business policies to manage driver access and regulatory compliance in Canada and to support our business’ global scale
  • Work closely with our Driver Growth team to improve conversion and to increase driver partner engagement by improving the partner experience

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years experience in roles which included data analysis, process design and implementation, project delivery, and stakeholder management; start-up or high-growth operations experience is an advantage
  • Demonstrated communication and organizational skills through experience managing cross-functional projects and stakeholder engagement
  • Passion for improving user experience and designing better processes and policies to manage engagement with the Uber platform
  • Great team player with strong, demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Excel / data management skills with a knack for finding the value in the data and using it to inform decisions
  • Bachelor’s degree required
