About the Role

Uber Global Security protects our global workforce, assets and facilities across the globe. To accomplish our mission, we are seeking a Regional Security Center Lead, who will develop and lead the regional intelligence program in Asia Pacific (APAC) and integrate seamlessly with our APAC Security team and the Global Security Center. This is a great opportunity to work in a fun, busy and fast paced Security and Crisis Management role. This position has two main deliverables : to oversee the Regional Security Center analysts and operators to ensure senior management receives actionable information to help them make quick, well-informed decisions during major events. And to identify, assess and escalate near-term threats/incidents that may pose a risk to Uber’s staff, assets and operations across APAC. You will work well under pressure, have excellent communication skills and a keen interest in international security and current affairs.

Our ideal candidate must be able to interact positively with various stakeholders across the full spectrum of business units and demonstrate ownership of deliverables. It is essential that he/she will build and maintain positive rapport with key stakeholders, understands and adapts to nuances of different internal customers, and enhance a sustainable and scalable program from the ground up.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage the Regional Security Center in support of Regional Head of Security, the Global Security Center, and other Global Security equities as required.
  • Oversee staff training and implementation of processes of the Regional Security Center.
  • Track key performance metrics of the Security Center and implement improvements as required.
  • Manage a cross-functional Security Center team to ensure the safety and security of our global workforce
  • Oversee precise and timely communication, escalation and coordination during a crisis / major incident.
  • Oversee the monitoring of, collection, and analysis of information from disparate open sources and internal databases about incidents that may affect Uber’s employees, facilities and operations.
  • Oversee the development of near-term, incident-based intelligence products that increase awareness and understanding of APAC security issues
  • Support the Global Travel Security program with country risk ratings and travel security briefings
  • Identify internal and external solutions to obtain, review, and process information in the utmost ethical and legal manner.
  • Network and interact, as well as support effective partnerships with key groups and individuals
  • Prioritize ongoing and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information .

What You’ll Need

  • 8+ years of threat analysis , research, journalism or international relations experience as well as watch and/or operations center experience
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing a team.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking skills with an ability to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Experience in a Watch Center, Fusion Center, or experience providing quick response assessments.
  • Proven ability to locate, process and synthesize large amounts of information quickly
  • Experience with global security management, travel safety programs, and security operations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, plus the ability to perform under pressure
  • Travel as necessary, domestic and international
  • A team player with a passion for security, current affairs and Uber!

Global Security Operations provides the line of business (LOB) around the globe during our most critical incidents and accidents. Our APAC Regional Security teams are there for our internal customers when they need us most. Accidents and incidents can be traumatic and challenging experiences. It takes a true professional to understand the complexity of the situation, work empathetically with the customers, and provide advise and assistance to timely and appropriate resolution.
