About the Role

The Business Development Manager for Aviation Partnerships will manage commercial relationships with Uber’s air vehicle providers, key suppliers, and other high impact relationships. He or she will be an individual contributor leading as a business development professional to accelerate aviation partnerships in pursuit of the Uber Air vision.

What You’ll Do

  • Primarily focuses on vision setting, partnership formation, deal development, and relationship maturity with world-leading aviation companies. Reporting to Elevate’s Head of Business Development, this individual will take a lead role in prospecting, evaluating, negotiating, closing, and implementing key aviation relationships to accelerate the Uber Air vision.
  • Effective candidates will have exemplary communication, relationship management, and problem solving skills. Additionally, we value - but do not require - demonstrated aviation industry experience, particularly experience forming commercial relationships and leading partnerships with traditional aviation players across a full life cycle, from relationship generation to partnership implementation.

What You’ll Need

  • Exceptional vision and strategic ability
    • Qualified candidates will be able to confidently assess competitive landscape, strategically think about how Uber will build on its unique advantages, and grow our vehicle partner strategy such that Elevate can fulfill its mission in a dynamic market.
    • Additionally, qualified candidates will be able to effectively prioritize highest potential partnerships, form and negotiate deals to further Elevate’s objectives, and drive excellent economic outcomes for both Uber and our partners.
    • This leader will be an internal and external point person on business relationships with aviation partners. As such, this person must possess the vision and ability to communicate, evangelize, and execute against that vision in order to form and grow high potential partnerships over several years.
  • Deal-making ability and experience
    • The candidate should bring experience as a dealmaker and partnerships leader; qualified candidates will demonstrate a track record of successful relationship ideation, negotiation, formation, execution, and growth, ideally with relevance to the aviation sector. This experience will be developing external credibility with stakeholders and other parties in negotiations and relationship formation.
    • Ideally, the candidate will bring a strong network relevant to advancing Elevate’s business goals (e.g. aviation OEMs, auto OEMs, aviation financiers, aviation operators, government entities, aerospace suppliers, etc.).
  • Strong technical acumen
    • The candidate will need to form partnerships with highly-technical aviation companies. As such, he or she does not necessarily need a technical background but must, at a minimum, have a strong ability to grasp complex technical concepts and engage with highly-technical business partners. He or she must also have a strong understanding of how those technical business partners and concepts will interface with Uber and the overall ecosystem.

About the Team

The candidate(s) will report to Head of Business Development for Elevate, Wyatt Smith, and work very closely with the aforementioned teams.
