About the Role

This position is the first face of HR to Uber’s employees. When they reach out to an HR channel with a sensitive query, they’ll reach you. There’s aspects of coaching, manager training, presenting and employee relations, where you’ll partner with others on Uber's People Team to ensure that we’re responding appropriately to individuals while tracking and solving for the root cause of what’s causing the most contact. As such, this role is a great way to gain in-depth knowledge about general HR processes and systems while also developing the skills and competencies needed to progress in an HR career. The day to day work also includes execution of people processes as well as lots of improvements to people projects such as onboarding and terminations processes, and systems work across all of our HR and payroll systems. Together, these provide foundational knowledge of people processes across the organization.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide tactical/situational support to the business, coaching first-line and first-time managers on performance management, basic employee relations, policies, and other HR-related topics
  • Guide management in the application and interpretation of policies (i.e. equal employment opportunity, affirmative action and absence management)
  • Use effective conflict resolution techniques to solve employee / line manager and employee / employee problems with minimal supervision
  • Manage Uber employee inquiries escalated from our People Support Center, and connect the employee to HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) as necessary
  • Partner with your region or functions HR Business Partner (HRBP) on larger projects and organizational changes
  • Identify trends and work with the larger team and your HRBP partner on acting upon them to reach a positive solution
  • Plan and execute regular (weekly/bi-weekly - depending on location) new hire orientation including managing logistics with IT, badging etc
  • Complete processes and project work to maintain compliance in your region or function
  • Identify and execute on continuous improvement of HR programs and processes to improve the overall employee and manager experience
  • Advise and complete all employee exits, both voluntary and involuntary (including complex involuntary terminations)
  • Facilitate and conduct training on a variety of HR initiatives (i.e. performance improvement plans, handling misconduct)

What You’ll Need

  • Minimum 4 Years of Experience with Human Resources, Manager Coaching,
  • Experience with coaching line managers on HR processes and supporting them in strengthening their leadership skills
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and the ability to manage competing priorities in order to meet the needs of client groups
  • Experience with being the front face of HR, representing policies and practices to managers and employees across the organization
  • Understanding HR practices and experience in regional capacity is a plus
  • Proven effective stakeholder management and collaboration with other teams to deliver a consistent employee experience
  • Workday experience and/or experience using JIRA is a plus

Uber’s People Operations (People Ops) team works to ensure that our global employee population has a fantastic experience at Uber, from onboarding onwards. We’re the center-point between the different functional areas, the jack-of-all-trades who know the answers to employee questions, and if not, how to connect people who do. Based around the world, we are the front-face of HR to Uber’s employees, and connect closely in with the HRBPs to implement people strategies. Additionally, our team partners strategically to improve people systems and processes, thinking globally and acting locally to ensure employees across Uber can focus on the work they were hired to do.
